You've gotta be kidding me. You're getting all scientific with calculations and dont don't realize that comparing a Garmin or TomTom to a Driftbox is like comparing a lawn tractor to a CAT Excavator.

A driftbox uses a 10Hz GPS coupled to deadly accurate motion sensors, to give the very best reading of speed, position, acceleration, and drift. (The GPS and motion sensor data get blended together in an equation programmed within the box.) All these parameters are measured 10x a second.

The GPS also has an input for an external antenna to mount on the car to guarantee the best signal with no obstruction.

So uh......keep using your TomTom. lol
OK, if you don't like me, why don't you just say so?

First, you are the only person saying a Driftbox was used in this thread. Why should I believe you and not what is stated in this thread?

You know, if there is a 9 mph discrepancy at 250 mph, some pretty embarrassing errors were made. So why would that leave the GPS side of the argument unquestioned?

I'm sure you must have some opinion on the matter. What are your conclusions?

I want to thank you for bringing up the Driftbox because it is an awesome product that a lot of people have never heard of.

I went to RaceLogic's site and they make a clear distinction between Driftbox and "GPS". They use phrases like "a GPS based system" and "uses a fast GPS engine" which are, just like you said, "like comparing a lawn tractor and a CAT excavator." (I do appreciate your not using "garden tractor" for the comparison because that would really insult garden tractor owners. You know there is a big difference between lawn and garden tractors...)

BTW, the only GPS I would consider owning is a Garmin. You won't find anything else in a cockpit.

Regards,
Tom
