I'm wondering what options exist for placement of a cell phone. I like to have it in a fixed visible location where i can see it for gps, texts, and access to my streaming music. Are there any good brackets or holders? Any clever creations that you guys are using?

Cool thanks, it's a little confusing to look at, but ill stare at it for awhile and figure out how it works. I think have the phone just stuck to the vent area, looks like it can do that.

I rode in cab not long ago and the driver had his phone on the dash over the gauges with FaceTime running to his wife back in pakistan. He asked me to wave and say hi. The face timing continued for 15 minutes until I arrived at my destination. Your method would have been safer ;)

i went with a goosneck setup that mpunts to the seat rail bolt. The one I went with is the Arkon version...

Arkon MG288 Mobile Grip 2 iPhone 6 5S and Android Smartphone Car Seat Rail Floor Mount

The system allows you to change the mounts to accommodate different devices. For example, I have one for the iPod, one for the Galaxy S5 and one for the iPad. The iPad is usually there for use with Waze on the longer trips. Awesome.

The units come in variousl lengths. I got the longer of the two. I want to say it is 18" or 20" tall.

That's pretty cool, but probably a little much for a viper IMO, but It would be useful in my daily driver.

I use this one in my DD and it works really well. Bought the wife one too and she loves it. Who uses a CD player anymore anyway?

That's awesome, I plan to buy a bluetooth cd player so I'd never need to put in a cd anyway, and the phone would be in a perfect location.

I actually find it safer to have the phone in a set location so that I can see who's calling without having to awkwardly reach in my pocket and become distracted. I can just put my headset on and start talking. I also can stream my music and see what station it's on, which is no different than using the cd player. And then of course, having GPS. I'm about to buy a viper in Vegas and drive 2200 miles home, so having GPS, and an app like waze showing police locations, is going to be really important to me.

I use this cell phone holder and really like the flexibility for perfect viewing, plugs into existing cigarette lighter (96 GTS) has an on/off switch so it won't run down battery, you can put cigarette lighter back in provided port so it is not loose in ash tray and 2 usb ports to charge your phone and/or Bluetooth. It is also far enough from the vents as to not overheat your phone. Best $17 I ever spent- Check it out.. This one is interesting, I think id have to see it in person, might look a little strange in the car, but it's definitely practical

Hard to tell at a quick glance what my application would look like. I see they do a lot, but they don't really show me what I need, easily.

This is the one I ended up getting. I've had it a few months now. It's adequate. I just worry about anything rubbing up on that dash. I swear it would scratch if a feather landed on it.

Thanks, it may be too late for me though.. I've already scratched it up a bit.. I sense a repaint in the future.
