Just wanted to let you guys know that the www needs to be typed in order to get here.

Isn't that needed to access any site? I know, I'm not too computer savvy.

Actually, a system can be setup so that you don't need to enter the leading www. For instance if you want to visit www.sun.com you could type in sun.com and one of Sun's servers will forward the http request to www.sun.com.
Not all domains are setup this way, it has to be done explicitly, but it's pretty handy and a majority of todays commercial sites are setup in that way. It is way quicker to type in google.com than the www.google.com (google is a site i use extensively).
