There are many differences between a Daytona and a Superbird.
The Daytona was only made in '69 and the Superbird in '70.
The Daytona was an option on a Charger, while the Superbird was counted as
a separate car.
They don't share a single body part. The Superbird started life
as a 70 Roadrunner. It was then fitted with modified Coronet fenders,
and extended hood, nose cone, special windshield deflectors, and aluminum wing. The rear window was removed and a plug put in that would allow the installation of a smaller rear window. This window did not interupt the
aero effect of the car. Chrysler did not want to spend the money reworking
the body so they slapped a balck vinyl top on the car.
The Charger had overheating problems because the air intake for the
radiator was not angled sharp enough. This was corrected on the Superbird.
Bottom line is that they are both unique and beautiful cars and yes I do own a 40,000 mile Superbird Six Barrel. Sure wish it was a HEMI!
