With the price range of the W/B meters now competing with a few trips to
the the Dyno shop, don't some of you power junkies want- the piece of mind-
of an in-house digital A/F meter?

I have seen the wideband on a couple of Vipers and it is certainly a step above the regular a/f gauges. However, if you have a quick enough eye one can catch the trends on a regular gauge.

But if I ever get a power adder on my girl I will certainly spring for the real time readings. Conditions change and so can the a/f. Cheap insurance IMO.

I have the TechEdge 1.5, from Australia. 1Tony1 - turned me on to it, he
has the 1.0 model. They offer the basic model in kit form for about $150,
but you need the O2 sensor - which is another $125. On the 1.5 model you
could actually just replace one of your forward O2 sensors with the upgraded
sensors - because the controller has an output function that could input to
the PCM, I elected to weld another bung in my collector, and plug in another
O2 sensor. With my unit, you can record RPM and 2 other motor functions along with
A/F. When I bought my unit last year, it was their top of the line, and
cost about $280 US dollars, I think they have a more advanced model now - that
could be less. Mine worked exactly as advertised, and was easy to install.
The down side is, they offer no advise or instructions , directly,- you
have to get it off a support website. The TechEdge started as a grass roots,
do it yourself kit, but has evolved into a thriving business.
