Re: Who\'s put 2000 headers on their 96-99 Viper ??
Hey Gang,
It's not that big of a deal, I yanked OEM end to end with my brother not knowing what I was doing in 90 minutes, headers to tails.
Install was about the same, trick is having all that you need and not hanging on parts!!
As for power, my VCA dyno day is next weekend, I will let you know the gain from my baseline dyno at the same facility last year.
Personally I think there is some power there, Janni and Henri Cone hit 450/500 on a stock 96 GTS with 98+ headers and cats, and a catback. That seems a little high considering, strong car, or did the headers help, both?
Time will tell, I was 421 SAE last year, will post the new numbers good or bad.
If in the next few weeks if the OEM rear muffler sounds too tame for my liking, it's history with a X pipe and then have that section jethot coated as well, at that point my ENTIRE exhaust will be coated from header to tailpipes. Should help with EGT temps and side sill heat, etc.
If that happens, (and from early garage runs it looks like the muffler is going to go, not much louder at all with the headers and Roe Ovals over my OEM garbage), I'll go dyno again to lay to rest the rumors of 2 horse gain from rear muffler delete up to around 12 I think was the highest I read on the morgue. My only regret will be both header upgrade and cats at the same time, so I will not be able to confirm the gain independantly.
Just came in from a few hours of putzing, snapped a SS band clamp on a 1/4" drive with one hand, not good. Much as I'd like to think it's my latest gym fad, I don't think that's the case.
JH on your threads about exhaust your post states your looking for the resonator section. In my book that is the section AFT of the one your looking for. The resonator section connects just aft of the cat, and includes the resonator and then curves into the middle of the car, connecting to the rear muffler. Making sure we are on the same page as you would find the resonator section more easily from any catback upgrader (ie Corsa) as they come with their own versions.
Take care,
Ryan
