Who\'s Buying Viper with fake Cashier\'s Check?

Got this e-mail today. Anyone know anything about this? Fact or Myth?

This is not a Joke. Please read and be aware of this scam .


A Fake cashier’s check was attempted to be passed for $5000.00 more than sale price of a 1999 RT/10 Viper on Monday 6/2/03

One of our advertisers, and past customers just called us today. His Viper is currently listed on our site for sale in Colorado.

He was contracted by a Mike Gregory King to buy his Viper on a Sat.

The seller Matt. of Denver (1999 RT/10) refused to accept the check and suggested they wait Monday June 2, 2003

In addition as mentioned before the Cashiers check was for $5000.00 over the price of the car .

Matt went to the bank pulled out the extra $5000 in cash and was smart enough to FIRST verify funds of the Cashiers check.

Matt’s bank called and informed him that the check was no good and was a forgery.

Mr. King assured him it was good and that he would bank wire the money to his account the next day.

Tuesday came and the hotel Mr. King was at had never heard or say him before.

Please pass this email on to all who are selling their Viper . In addition, if you run into this guy (shorter & heavy set man) please contact Denver Police department and /or contact Matt at this email address. [email protected]

got the same mail. I wonder who would try such a gig. I guess the seller didn't get the buyers ID?

I had a guy who wanted to give me a cashiers check for my 95 , his bank manager told me that they had no branch where he said it came from and it was no doubt one of the really good fake cashiers checks that are all over the world right now.
