What is the Little Red Light for?

1482 Views 20 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Whitebeard
There is a small red led down by the dash light dimmer, it has never been on that I have noticed and I have no idea what it is for. This is on a 97' GTS I'd look it up in the owners manual if I had one. Tom

If you roll the windows down with that light on it tells the world that you're open for business.

JK...no idea. Pic?
huh?
Actually it's the oxygen pulley module torque sensor warning light.

I don't think my '97 has that light. I am guessing that maybe it was for an alarm?
It the light is about 1/4 inch in diameter, it's an alarm LED. It may have a round, black plastic holder it snaps into.
I also found a small black box mounted under the rear fascha that says antenna, I wonder if it is some kind of lo-jack system or something like that.

Hmmm...that sounds pretty feasible. I don't think Lo-jack systems have any obvious "clues" like a red led (at least from what I've heard from other folks) but it could be just that or something else like it. Is it wired to the LED from what you can tell? Does it ever light up or blink?
Your copy/paste was truncated was all. :thumb:

Lojack installs don't include an LED.

I just opened the door, and the red light went away. /images/graemlins/supergrin.gif

Perhaps you could have Lassen paint that on the trunk? /images/graemlins/supergrin.gif

Yup, that's what I thought.

A buddy of mine had lojack installed last year and they wouldn't even let him watch where they install the transmitter/receiver for security purposes (so the general public didn't know where they liked to place it on various cars I 'spose).
Same thing on my install. Wouldn't tell me where they put it! But it was pretty obvious to me anyway.
