Well I went out for a little ride this evening. I just put on brand new pilots on because one of my BFG's decided to pick up a nail. The tires were already worn so I figured since I am getting slicks and skinnies there is no need for these BFG's anyway. Wrong!!!!!!!! I put about 50 miles on them and decided to start giving it some throttle. 1st gear half throttle spin the tires. 2nd gear 2/3 throttle spin the tires. Roll into third seems okay.

Well low and behold about an hour into my drive a car is coming up fast in my rear view mirror and I thought it looked like a viper so I down shifted into 3rd and waited until he was right up beside me. I took a look and it was a stealth, oh well I will give him a show. I roll into the throttle a little harder than previous tries and the back end comes 1/4 of the way around. Scares the piss out of me!! I have never spun them in 3rd like that. Granted it was cold outside, low 40's, but crap I can't have any fun spinning the tires at 80mph. I have spun the tires quit a bit in 2nd and I can feel right before the car loses traction or when it is on the verge of losing traction but 3rd took me by complete suprise.

The BFG's would only really spin in first. Once you were in 2nd it was hammer time. Hook like a mother and go! Not anymore! I don't think I could spin them in 4th but maybe at sea level I could. No Fun! How do you guys with 100-150 more RWHP stay pointed straight?

I am willing to give up handling right now for some traction. I will probably run around on my 17" kuhmos until I get some new BFG's. BTW, does anyone want to buy some brand new never been mounted stock pilots? I have two new pair. They are worthless to me now. /images/graemlins/freak Does anyone want to trade? Partial trade?

That is strange since the pilots are a 160 tread wear or something like that, Just because they are new to you doesn't mean they are new tires and still soft, There is a production date on the tires, The tires could have been sitting in a warehouse or in the tire shop for a while causing them to get hard and spin easy.

My Pilots spin in 1st, 2nd & 3rd all the time. I'm waiting until there is nothing left of them and then I will go for the BFG's or the Kuhmos if they finally come out in 18's. Does anyone know if this will ever happen, or is it just a rumor?
