Vipers are still on top in most competitive racing segments. Today at Desoto Motorsports Park, Bradenton Dragway, Vipers proceeded to dominate the field of over 100 Bowtie products.

In a nutshell, we ran 9.77 in our BTR GTS which was the quickest time of the entire event, Lee Saunders ran 9.83 in his BTR Prepped GTS, and John Hennessey ran 9.84 in his 1000 TT/with Nitrous to round out the only 9 second cars at the event.

The closest of any GM product was somewhere in the 10.50's I believe. There were several other Vipers that trophied in their classes as well, but I can't remember all of the drivers and times so I will let them follow up with actual numbers.

The rains came shortly after time trials, so the planned "bracket racing" event of the afternoon was cancelled. Trophies were handed out for all of the fastest cars of each class. Of course, the Vipers were alone in the fastest class with no GM competition even placed with us.

There were many nice cars in attendance of ALL brands, LPE Vettes, a few Ferarri models and an Aston Martin James Bond Special was on hand to view the action.

Take Care,

Tom

Tom, great numbers. You have a time slip? Would like to see the numbers, also what kind of shot did you have on them. Congrats.
Great times. Who drove the Venom 1000 TT to a 9.8?
Hello,

I do have the timeslip and will try to scan it. the numbers were;

60' 1.43
1/8 6.34
1/8 MPH 111.85
1/4 ET 9.77
1/4 MHP 143.83

The shot of NOS has not changed, just playing with bringing the propane on earlier in the run. Lee Saunders Viper has the identical set-up to mine but he is still using the stock 97 cam..until next week. Both of our cars are what I consider to be very mild in that they have stock throttle bodies and no honing of the intake manifold, stock computers, gearing and clutch packs. The combination definately works without alot of extra frills and the best part is that there is absolutely no maintenance. We sat around the trailer, heckling Johnny boy as he got his "flamethrower" ready to run.

King,

HMS drove his Viper. It was a TT with a nx Nitrous System. Im not sure of the rest of the cars particulars.

A good time was had by all.

I'm wondering if the turbo was the one HMS ran to a 9.52? I thought that car ran consistant mid 9's. I wonder if something was wrong or if it was his newer project. One problem with John driving the car is I have heard that he can't drive for shit. He might not wreck every time like Gerald from RSI, but still not that great. Tom, you have come a long way in a short amount of time. My hats off to you and your crew.
Judge,

Thanks for the compliment...

I don't know anything about the car John brought, other than it was a clean late model GTS (red) with twin turbos and the juice. I believe the 9.50's car was a blue/white gts owned by Jamie P. of Pa.

This TT seemed to go down the track like there was more left in it for sure. John made two passes, 9.84 and 10.15. One run was about 148 mph, and im not sure about the other pass as the toteboards had a bulb or two missing.

Tom
Congrats to BTR once again for an awesome time! (and for kickin HMS's butt)

Congrats Tom! Great showing for the BTR prepared Vipers. Your years of drag racing experience have paid off! Not only can you set one up, you can drive it like a banshee!

Good job!
TOM AND LEE KICKED ASS! ALL OF THEIR RUNS WERE SMOOTH AND CLEAN. KILLER 60 FTS TOO.

WE BROUGHT ALONG VENOM TT #4 FOR A FEW DEMO RIDES ON SAT. AND A FEW PASSES AT THE TRACK ON SUN. 9.8 / 148 FOR ITS FIRST PASS DOWN THE TRACK IS OK BY ME. THE LAST VENOM TT (#3) RAN 10.8 @ 148 ON ITS FIRST TIME TO THE TRACK AND 9.5 @ 156 ON ITS LAST.

IF IT WILL EVER STOP RAINING IN TX, WE HOPE TO GET SOME MORE TEST RUNS IN SOON.

JOHN
Thanks Tom. Looks like you guys had some good fun. Great times!
Tom - great times!! Looks like you and your customers are starting to run very consistantly in the 9's - very impressive.

Hopefully there will be a Viper event soon where everyone comes out and runs.
