ViperAlley Posts $1,000 Cash Contingency to Viper Entries in OTC
(December 29, 2003)...Open Track Challenge (OTC), North America's premier time trial program and home to the 5-day, 5-track "season-in-a-week" race concept, is proud to announce its partnership with Viperalley.com, the newest and hottest online community for Dodge Viper enthusiasts.
Viperalley.com has generously donated $1000 in contingency prize money to be awarded to Dodge Viper competitors in OTC 2004. $500 will be awarded to the top Overall finisher competing in a Viper RT/10, Viper GTS, SRT/10, or Competition Coupe in the Time Trial component of OTC. The remaining $500 will be awarded to the top finisher competing in a Viper RT/10, Viper GTS, or SRT/10, or Competition Coupe in the OTC Grand Prix wheel-to-wheel series.
"Participating as a sponsor for OTC is an exciting oppotrunity for us," says Michael Pierce. "It allows us to leverege our resources and provide a tangible benefit to Viper owners. We look forward to being there to cheer on the Viper participants."

Where is the OTC? I haven't heard of it before. Are there classes for competition, or is it "run what you brung"?

It is a West Coast swing - 5 tracks in 5 days. Las Vegas, Willow Springs, Thunderhill, Sears Point/Infineon, and Button Willow - in that order.
I went to Sears yesterday and it was a blast! It rained all morning, making for some very interesting laps, but the afternoon cleared up and it was awesome! John Dearing and Ken Haney are racing 2 cars, taking turns driving. They have John's mostly stock ACR (brakes and slicks) and Haney's Toyota WSR (1300 lbs and 250+ HP). They are currently in 2nd and 4th overall. Doug (www.nsxfiles.com) and Erik Messley (sp?) are currently in 1st overall. Ken and John are giving them a run for their money on the last day - today.
Smackie put together a hell of an event!
There are classes (check out www.opentrackchallenge.com for details on classes, etc). They even have a class for people who drive their car from event to event. Makes for some interesting evenings - like Ryan changing his Z06 radiator in a Walmart parking lot near Thunder Hill at night. Current standing are also on this site.opnwide said:Where is the OTC? Final, Dearing 2nd Overall, 2nd U1 behind the full blown racecar of Messley & Hayashi. Terry Rossi in his stock '99 GTS took T1, Ryan0 got 3rd in T1.
Dearing won the Top Gun award voted on but the drivers themselves for the best driver, he accepted the award (which PMUM won the previous 2 years) and handed it to Paul's parents who were there :nod:
