Did anyone see Sucking Amps on the Discovery Channel? A team builds an electric postal truck and races a Viper at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. First run they blow a tranny part, second run a belt. Final score Viper:2, Electric car:0.

Does anyone know whose viper that was?

Yea - I saw the same show. Didn't seem like the electrical guys put enough thought into getting the power to the wheels.

Electric cars will get there one day - but hauling around 40 batterys as a boat anchor doesn't cut it.

Looked to be a GT-2 or copy GTS. Race was in Vegas.

There's a dragrace every year for electrics in Oregon or Washington I think. There are plenty of 8s electric drag cars. Sounds like that one didn't have its shit together.

It's pretty interesting to read about all of the customized work that these guys did to develop the "Going Postal" electric vehicle, which despite teething pains ran a 15.87 (in the 1/8th) /images/graemlins/wink

See NEDRA Pre-Season Opener in Las Vegas to check out the race against the Viper (it looks like it was a '98 GT2).

There are quicker electric cars out there though:

And more recently against a 500HP Viper:
