I purchased my 99 ACR out of state last month. the only mod's it has are long tube headers, cat back, no cats, O2 simm's. When I got back to Oregon I went through DEQ and failed for exhaust noise too loud, but all my OBDII Readiness tests showed Complete except for one- O2 Heater (we're allowed to have 2 Not Complete's and still pass). Since then I went through the expense of acquiring a stock muffler and put it on. I also acquired Scan Ease so I could scan/reset codes and to scan engine performance. I had scanned the ecu and reset some old historic O2 codes about 2 days prior to putting the new muffler on then running thru DEQ again. This time I passed my noise, but failed several of the OBD tests, 2 of which I was previously passing before I reset the ecu: Catalyst, Evaporative, O2 Heater. I have no check eng lite, no codes showing on my Scan Ease. I believe the ecu on this car works much the same as on my C5 in regards to OBD in that it needs 40 drive cycles completed without a check eng lite before all the tests will show Complete. Does this sound right? I havent been keeping exact count, but I reckon to be damn close, but still show Catalyst, Evap and O2 Heater Not Complete with my ScanEase I/M check. I have not thrown a code ever since i first reset the ECU last week. I'd like to hear of your similar experiences, any idiosyncracies of the Viper I should be aware of, etc. I am running out of time with my temp permits, I really need to get this car smogged!!
Thanks in advance-
Robert
