We had a great turnout, great weather and a great party. We also had some MIAs in the Mod 2 class. Cudaman made the trip from Fl, John Hennessy from TX, we had SnakeBite from MN. There was a tent overflowing with Vipers.

The racing was, how shall I say, wierd! The fastest car didn't win.
Fast ET was Cudaman with a 10.59 134MPH
Cudaman also got the Low ET on Pilots to win the PartsRack set of tires, 10.80.

Fast time for a stock Viper to win the Corsa Exhaust was the Gen 1 car of Dave Rauske with a 12.45. Seems the SRT 10 boys didn't want to get their cars dirty?

Winner of the Mod 2 Shootout was Jim Poma with a Hennessy 550.

Winner of the Bracket was Dave Rauske. Ran a 12.45 on a 12.45.

Pauls just missed his goal to run 10s with bolt-ons only. 11.03 @126MPH.

Low 60' was Jack Bene with a 1.45. ET was 10.77.

Clutches were the achilles heel of the event. HMS had problems with the ALL Motor SRT 10, Snakebite fried his. The traction was so good it drug the clutches on the launch and affected shifting down track.

It was disappointing that the MIAs didn't make the tow. For those who attended, I hope they will be ambassadors for next year's event.

What a great event! I will mark this deal on my calander every you. It is that good. And even with a car that had clutch problems that never got a full pass in on the track, I am glad we came. Why travel 2700 miles round trip and not get in a good run and still be happy? The answer is easy: The people. The hospitality and camraderie of the OH and other Viper owners at this event is second to none. Paul Suloff, Calvin Smith and many many others were just great. Thanks for a wonderful event and we will see you again in Norwalk next year.
This event was yet another great time. Norwalk is an amazing first class track, they really take their racing seriously there.

Ohio VCA did a great job and the weather could not have been more beautiful.

I had my personal best at 11.63 and folllowed it with an 11.66 just to prove to snakebitten the first time wasnt luck, LOL

it was a pleasure to again meet up with some familar faces, Macedo and Ward (cudaman), JH, and many others. always a fun time bullshiting and talking shop with these guys ( they talk the shop, i just listen and learn, LOL).

The car turnout was great, but too many were afraid to get those wheel wells dirty, LOL

Big Kats yellow roe sc'd machine was impressive and once kat gets that fuel pump beefed up, hes gonna be a force to be reckoned with.

Calvins after race party was great and the facility was a car enthusiast dream, this guys garage was amazing and his courtesy and hospitality was just as good.

I look forward to next year

Sorry Paul that I couldn't attend. At the last minute I had to scrub the mission due to unforeseen circumstances. It's still good to see that no S/C-only car has broken the record set by Jason Heffner (driving my car) of 10.22 sec. ET that has stood for more than six months.
Well, I showed up! It was my 3rd and 4th days of drag racing my Viper - my experience level is going up rapidly!

Larry Macedo, bless his heart, found something that prevented some big trouble with my Viper the day before the drags began - my fuel pump was not pumping enough fuel to safely run past 5000 RPMs if I wanted to take 10 pistons home with me. Earlier this year I had 55 psi at idle and on Thursday it was down to 50 psi at idle and above 5200 RPM it was down to 40 psi. Larry also found out my Roe Supercharger was giving me more than the 5 pound boost, which coupled with the low fuel pressure would have meant some very unhappy pistons. I did pull off over half my runs at 12.1 ET at 119+ MPH just shifting at 5000 RPM on the factory Michelins. Yes, I drove there and back home again on the same original Michelins that came on the car. (BTW- Thanks, JonB of PartsRack for having that sale on rear tires - I'm going to have to put on my rear tires I bought from you in the next couple of weeks because I used up 1/4" of tread in 2 days.)

It was one of the best times I've ever had meeting so many Viper owners whose names you'd recognise. I ditto everything posted previously here, especially Calvin Smith's Viper Party - I stayed until 1 AM and some people stayed all night! Viper Magazine was there and took a spectacular photo of over 30 Vipers parked in front of Calvin's Garage with their owners standing next to their Vipers. It is especially spectacular because only one Yellow Viper showed up and it was in the front row parked next to where I was standing. I'll try to get some of my photos posted here soon as I get the film developed.

An extra special thanks goes out to Corsa's Jim Browning, Jr. who gave up part of his Sunday with his family to open up the Corsa factory to reconnect two pipes in my Corsa 3" Cat Back that had pulled out from each other from the engine torque my Roe Supercharged Viper while drag racing. I short while later I had that special Corsa sound again. I tried to pay him for all the work he did on his day off fixing my Viper, but he wouldn't take any money so I told him that I would pay him tribute here. Then I drove home to Centerville, Ohio and he went to find where he had left his family.

great pics
Hey Gerald -

Thanks for posting the pics!! I heard that this was a FIRST class event from the track set-up to the after hours party.

In fact - late last night we were discussing getting a group together to transport our cars next year. Hennessey said that this a a MUST ATTEND Viper event.

Just freakin DRIVE THEM! /images/graemlins/supergrin.gif The Ohio boys said this is no doubt going to be an annual event, as did the guy who runs the track, which I thought was cool, that out of the 3,000 plus cars, the guy who runs the track was at the Viper after party...

I had a blast...and will definitely be back next year! :thumb:

From Larry and Ward having homemade breakfast at the Smith's on Saturday morning with us, to having an excellent track surface (and weather) for racing AND a bomb-ass party on Saturday night, I hope us Ohioans laid out the red carpet welcome mat in as fine fashion as possible to continue to grow this event. I'm not a big player in the racing scene, but I do take pride in being a fellow Viper owner and apart of the host club/region for this event. It was really great to see Larry,Ward,John,Nick,Tony and Gerald all roll in from over 800 miles away! I hope more of y'all from outta town get to come up next year.

We counted 40+ Vipers at the event on Saturday and over 100 people at the party that night. It was great meeting John Hennessey, Nick, Gerald, Rich, Tony and several of the others that post on the boards. I think we even did a little marketing work for the alley (i.e. showing some board posters "the light")

Here are a few pics, one at a time since I don't have them hosted anywhere yet; there will be more. I have some great panoramas from the event that I have to stitch together, but I actually gotta get some work done today.

1 yellow? Yes, that's the individuality I enjoy greatly.
Yeah, red pretty much ruled the day (as usual)
Oddly enough, I think we had as many or more saphire cars as blue/white. The only color we were missing was white/blue as I saw a green with tan interior for the first time. I really liked that color seeing it in person.

Thank you Paul Suloff and the Ohio VCA for hosting a great drag racing event! The hospitality of Chic and Calvin Smith was unreal, I just couldn't imagine being invited into the home of someone I barely knew for breakfast of all things. Not to mention, I passed out from exhaustion on his leather recliner the night before in the garage. Guys like Chic, Jack, Kenny, Tony, Bill, Gerald, Rich and the rest make that region what it is and possibly the best group of guys I've ever had the pleasure of meeting!
