Like last year's Viper Days Reunion, The Showdown will run within reserved time blocks of the SRO World Challenge race event. There will be something for everyone - a private testing day, 2 races for the Race Prepared cars, 2 timed sessions for the Time Trial cars and a couple of combined practice sessions for both groups. In addition, there will be 3 different skill groups of HP Driver Education sessions on Sunday. There are still around a dozen slots left for the competition groups, but plenty of room for HPDE entries with highly competent instructors. And, there will be a car show for those who want to enjoy the comradery of the event, but maybe not the track time.
This is the most famous track in the Americas and Roger Penske's purchase of IMS 2 years ago has breathed new life and upgrades into the facility. All track events will be run on the IMS Road Course. There will be SRO sprint races Friday and Sunday morning. There will be 2 Viper competition sessions and an 8-hour SRO endurance race on Saturday. The Viper group will have paddock credentials and a hospitality suite or two to eat/drink/view and relax in. The IMS Museum is a truly amazing place to visit.
If you've never been to a Viper Days event, or never been on a track before, this is just fabulous opportunity to sample the experience from multiple perspectives. Believe me, our cars were BUILT for enjoying the track! Indianapolis has a lot of hotel, dining, shopping and entertainment options - so your wife or best buddy would have fun as well.
I was planning to be there myself - until my daughter told me my first grandchild is due right about then. There are some things in life that trump Viper track time! Check it out!
