Guys,

I am thinking about attending the West Coast Viper Days events. I'll say it now, I am a newbie. I have road coursed 2 times in a C5, once in a Z06 and twice in by Gen I RT/10, both times of which resulted in the following:

1st time: Button Willow -- broke my front left tire half way into a turn. Result = off track and done for the day.

2nd and final time: Las Vegas -- didn't have appropropriate spacers to fit race wheels over Brembo brakes, so raced on stock 19 inch purners w/ mich's, and by the end of the day spun it off track (scratched up rimps pretty badly.)

So, my RT/10 has about 100 more N/A horsepower than stock RT/10's, and I am looking to learn to drive it better and get out to more events. Is there anything I am going to need for these events? Any words of wisdom?

BTW, I do have a set of Purners now outfitted with Hoosiers, and I am looking to pick up some 17's that I can stick stock Mich's on as well to race on street tires.

Well I have a set of 17 inch Michelins and a set of 17 inch Hoosiers, so I can mount either ones.

Believe it or not, I have the longest amount of time racing my Viper on 19 inch Michelins --- yeah, that is all I had when in Vegas. Went the whole entire day, and then finally lost in in an 'S' turn trying to catch up and pass Trent's ROE car that had 100 HP on me. He hooked in the turn, I didn't... off I went. That was a 100+ degree day and my power steering fluid started blowing out, too. I have since added a cooling unit to the car for that.

Manny are you gonna run in Modified on street tires or Super Modified/Unlimited on "Cup" tires, Viperdays does not allow Hoosiers anymore. On Jan. 21st the Wed. before Viperdays at Willow Springs www.opentrackracing.com will have a mid-week event, I'll be there instructing (I have over 1,200 laps there) if you want I will show you everything you need to know to be fast and safe.

Why don't you do Viper days the 24-25th. Hell every other car has passed you on the track, why not let 20 Vipers do it all at one time /images/graemlins/supergrin.gif.== It will be Less Pain---> :fight:

Manny,
Use stock Pilots. Much more predictable for the novice.
Hoosiers stick far better than the Pilots, but when the Hoosiers let go...........your gone. Pilots start to slide before that point.

Also as SoCal mentioned........you can't run Hoosiers at Viper Days anyways.
BTW.........it's also the best place to learn how to drive your Snake hard.
All the training is Viper specific and Courtney, Tracy and Skip are some of the greatest people you'll ever meet!
