How close were your dyno pulls (were they back to back)? This seems like a fairly basic concept that is SIMILAR to the cold air packages they use for the vettes (only the vettes put an airbox on top of the area the "VIPAIR" covers. To me it seems that a lot of his other stuff is kind of a "knockoff", but maybe this piece will work. A while ago I ordered his guage pod for the B pillar and it didnt fit at all. LEft a huge gap around the window frame, it didnt seem like it was made for the viper, so I havnet ordered anything else.

Also some kind of gizmo by "Viper Advantage" (?). Looks like it seals the area under the hood around the NACA duct. Anyone tried this one?
Seems the trus test would be at the strip where the cold air advantage would be noticed (since we all know the ram air "story").

BTW how much is that vipair thing?
The Vipair thing is $200. One guy "Russ" who did some pretty well thought out tests before is going to get one and do some testing on it. I'm eagerly awaiting the results.

I actually have one on my car along with the EMS airbox, but I don't have a clue whether it will independently add any additional horsepower. I will say that the EMS airbox with 3" tubes did significantly reduce the little bit of high rpm pinging I had earlier in the summer. Any dyno testing would need to be tightly controlled because the results can vary quite a bit without making any changes at all, particularly from the first to second pull. I'd be interested to see how one did between, say, the 3rd and 4th pulls after the car was thoroughly heat soaked.

Yes, they were back to back with the hood closed and fans blowing. I ran 4 times. One cool engine then one hot stock. Then I ran 2 runs after installing the Vipair one cool engine and one hot. Both runs were consistently 10HP greater.

Hmmm for $200 you cant go wrong. Wish they sold one without that damned logo. Id even pay an extra $100 if they could make it out of something trick like carbon fiber. That logo is just fugly.

So let's say it yeilds 10 HP. Cool. I still think $200 is a very pricey for plastic (and I've heard the arguments), and will prevent many people from purchasing the unit. I think it should be priced around $75. Then EVERYBODY would have them - kinda like smooth tubes. So drop the price already, would ya.... For the people that aren't as frugal, make a carbon fiber piece or aluminum - and charge what you want.

Smokin, they'll make you one w/o the logo, and I'd say c/f might be a good possibility too given that EMS is now selling the c/f airboxes, their hood in c/f, etc. Scott would make his headers out of c/f if he could. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah, I would like to see some more results as well. I don't dispute the current ones, but I feel it can only strengthen the product if more people have data to share. On the basis, it seems like a no brainer and I hope it continues to show these type of gains.
