I don't want to discuss the cars as this topic has been beaten to death but rather the hobby, the people, aftermarket, service (no competion from GM here), etc. Whats up with this viper tax I hear about? I know when I was looking at vipers I noticed a set of floor mats were 300 bucks compared to about 100 for the vette. I know there is a small price to pay for some of these things due to the exclusivety of the vehicle but that seemed a little extreme to me. And I hear alot of people saying how Viper Magazine sucks and it does seem to suck compared to some of the vette rags. Not sure any of these are reasons to chose one over the other but wanted to hear what some of you think...

Magazines = Vette wins. Viper rag is laaaame
Clubs = Tie. Snooty owners on both sides. You gotta find a group that is FUN to hang out with and not pretentious
Aftermarket = Tie. Both have lots of stuff available... Viper has more potential, Vette stuff is way cheaper.
Cost = Vette. Everything Viper is expensive... costs are higher because R&D is spread over a much thinner market. Why invest $50k to develop something for a Viper only to sell 200 of them. There are well over a million Vettes, so it's more worthwhile.
Service = Viper. GM service sucks donkey balls, IMO and always will.

Viper mag is OK. Never seen the Vette mag. I also know the stock Viper stereo sucks bad! I can only hope Vettes come with a much better one :lame:

Viper people are great in my experience. Sure there are always going to be a few snobby ones, but hey, that's life. One thing that is important to note is that owning a Viper is much different than owning a Vette. The joy that comes from ownership is second to none. As for the Viper mag, probably doesn't compare to the better Vette mags.
vipernathan is right. The few vette guys I have met tend to be all about show (car and personality). My little brother just bought a '79 corvette today - beautiful, I must say - runs great, 50k orig. mi. - however, the only thing the seller had to say about it was, "It's a really awesome midnite blue." Okay, guy.
