VEC1\\VEC2 experiences on near stock Vipers?

Looks like good bang for the buck, even if I only netted a 14 peak RWHP gain. :thumb: I'm just looking for feedback in the form of peak\below peak increases to the wheels, dyno charts, and SOTP experiences. 93 octane around here, BTW. Also, what are the differences between VEC1\VEC2? How much $ for the VEC2? Thanks for the help! :cheers:

Also, what are some other high bang for the buck HP mods, BESIDES SC? How about a cam? How much might parts\install cost? RWHP gains???? Car is street driven, rarely drag raced, and must pass emissions. The more lope, the better! :devil:

highest bang for buck is obviously NOS.

if you want lope obviously go with cam upgrade, daily driver does limit that though. do heads with cam is typical and ther combo can result anywhere from about 40-100+ gains

sc and TT speak for themselves

four good SC options out there; roe, paxton, dlm, and heffner two are basically DYI the other two are class act tuners

do reserch and decide what you want and how much youre willing to spend then get busy. nothing worse than a stock viper /images/graemlins/supergrin.gif

With the VEC1 zeroed out, my car peaked at 382 RWHP / 432 RWTQ. With it set properly (after four more dyno runs), it made 422 RWHP / 456 RWTQ. The only changes from stock are tubes & filters and straight-pipe (no cats, resonators or exhaust).

On the sheets below, 411 is one of the intermediate runs, 382 is the zeroed baseline, 399 is my seat-of-the-pants setting (no dyno runs, just setting according to the VEC1 instructions), 422 is the final run, and 399 is that same SOTP check.

These results are little better than what's typical. Even Sean was a bit surprised.

The VEC1 will transfer to another vehicle when you add the Roe S/C with VEC2 to your Viper - I have my VEC1 on my heavily modded Ram truck now. It worked great on my Viper while it was on it - 436 rwHP and 480 rwTorque.

The VEC2 is more expensive than the VEC1 at about $1000, but it has more potential for larger HP gains since it can also provide spark advance. I don't think that Roe has started shipping them for NA applications yet as I know they were servicing their SC customers first and had a limited supply of these parts.

Here is a link to a graph of their initial dyno testing. 16RWHP and up to 50 HP/TQ under the curve.

The VEC2 can do a LOT more than the VEC1. The VEC1 is fairly basic electronics. The VEC2 is an actual programmable computer. We put an early VEC2 on my car with relatively mild settings and I drove it around for a few minutes. The difference was instantly apparent. Unfortunately Sean wanted those dyno sheets and I never got around to getting a copy for myself.

With my Viper, that only had tubes and filters, I picked up 19 rwhp and and 12 rwtq.
Were the before\after runs done back to back on the same day? That seems really high, but then again I am semi-new to modding Vipers...
