The car is coming along nicely. I had a decent thread going on the VOA forum...and don't have the desire to recreate it, BUT here's a quick synopsis.

Chassis #3- 2875lbs
EMCO DV46 transmission
Nuke Performance Air Jacks
Heads/Cam package- JMB Performance (639/641 to the tires)
Zebulon MSC Front Splitter
AJ Hartman Aero Rear Diffuser
Zebulon Rear Wing
MME Motorsports Air Shift Paddles
TKO Motorsports/Doug Shelby Engineering Flat Bottom Floor
Tilton Carbon Metallic Triple Disc Clutch
Brembo Motorsports 6 Piston Sprint Calipers

The car is fast, much faster than I am, we're working on that though. This weekend we were chasing issues with the air paddles. On Saturday under WOT when the onboard compressor kicked on, it pushed the car into limp mode. I think it's either a battery or alternator issue...diving into that next week. When the compressor kicks on at any other point (braking, 80% throttle, etc no issues). Sunday morning I had made up my mind to go for a flyer on lap 2, knowing that I would clear the lap before the compressor was needed, I was pacing 2.3 seconds ahead of my previous best through Turn 10 (out of 14). Turn 10 is a fast left corner taken in 3rd gear. I was accelerating out and it felt like my passenger front tire lost pressure and was bouncing a little. I let off the throttle, straightened the wheel and it went away... thinking that maybe it was just understeering poorly, I got back in the throttle and immediately heard a REALLY loud metal on metal cyclical noise coming from under the car.

My initial thought was the throw-out bearing, then maybe the clutch, and lastly the transmission. I got it up in the air and dropped the front tray and splitter and didn't have any fluid anywhere. Granted that the car was about 10" off the ground I felt like I did a pretty thorough investigation and couldn't find anything wrong externally, so I assumed it was the EMCO. Talk about demoralizing. I had talked to Larry over at EMCO over the winter and he was about 6 months out for rebuilds and it would cost a significant chunk of change.

I loaded it up and hauled it home. I dropped it off at a buddy's shop (who installed the aero, jacks and paddles) to check out Monday. Monday morning he called me and said it looks like one of the rear driveshaft bolts worked it's way out, and then the other was sheered off; the noise I was hearing was the driveshaft slapping the inside of tunnel. Thank God for a driveshaft loop and a flat bottom floor, saved a lot of headaches and money.

Ordered a new driveshaft and will have it installed by this weekend. Next week I plan to take it to a private track and try to iron out the limp mode issue.

Maybe you need a larger tank so the compressor isn't having to work so hard? However, I'm sure what you have is a proven package. So maybe you have some undersized, or damaged wiring that's straining the system.

I'd really like to stay with the same size tank. We're going to pull the wiring and check it all out to make sure we're not sharing a ground somewhere.

Worst case, I'll pull the compressor and tank, then replace it with a refillable compressed air tank.

Thanks! It's always fun to go out and burn through some fuel. Weather was perfect.
You should be able it get more with a CO2 tank as that is liquid and head pressure is 600psi at std 72F temp.

How many laps do you run?

Agreed. Just more inconvenient to get it filled.

I run maybe 25 laps a day. I think if I went CO2, I'd need multiple tanks to switch out.
Very cool race car. Great livery too

Thank you! It's actually going to get painted soon.
13cobra - I might have to pick your brain at some point. Chassis #4 has been in hibernation for about 6yrs but this fall she might be back on track. I'm curious about the aero, is it completely different than Woodhouse's aero package? I know Bob runs a different wing. Our Comp Coupe has ported heads, bumped compression, ecu, carbon dash, W.C. aero and a Holinger out of a C6 Corvette. I believe it's just under 2,900lbs. I'm going to order a fuel cell bladder in the next month and hopefully head to Willow Spring this fall. Weren't you having carbon blank headlights made? I'm guessing that fell through since you don't have them on your car in the pics. I have a set of magnesium wheels but they're 15yrs old so they're probably not safe anymore. Nice to see a post about a C.C.

Would love to be of help however I can.

Carbon headlight blanks should be here in a couple of weeks! Once we get them test fitted and a bracket developed they'll be readily available for purchase.

Yes, it is a different aero package than Bob's. I'm hoping to get them next to each other at Rendezvous in a few weeks and really see the differences.

#4 and mine should be very similar then!
We chased our tails for a while...

Now, we are fairly confident that going from 100 octane to 104 octane is the culprit. My engine builder said that he tuned it on unoxygenated fuel, and to run 6% oxygenated fuel it would run lean and go into limp mode. Pumping remaining fuel out of the cell and will refill it with 100 and give it a go.

I would almost guarantee that your aero is no match for Bob's. First off, he either upgraded his original VCC to WC spec, or sold it and bought a WC chassis/aero. Since nobody is running a spec series with them any longer, you build whatever you want, or whatever the sanctioning body allows within their rules structure. The main idea is to get that puppy out of the garage and RUN IT!

I think he was asking about my aero compared to Bob's.

Pretty similar.
