-I love that salvaged title. Who wants that thing after that guy has beat the hell out of it??
If you read the text, it doesn't come with a title.
If I remember the story right he a member of Team Viper or somthing like that and it's a race car built directly from new parts, not a wreck or street car that was converted.

-Built over a two-year period, Bill started the project with a wrecked ’98 Viper GTS which he mated to a brand-new Viper chassis, bought from his employer along with numerous other components. The chassis was extensively modified in order to allow for a stronger rear end. Bill’s good friend Ken Budowick helped out here, by constructing a new chrome-moly cage and rear section. Ken installed a 9.75 Dana rear axle using a four-link set-up with adjustable Koni aluminium shocks and an anti-roll bar. “Essentially it’s all old-style Mopar under there,” quipps Bill. Old style it certainly is, with a 9.6-litre naturally-aspirated Hemi V8 sat beneath the custom-crafted bonnet scoop.

This time the e-bay page says salvage title in the description:

The guy works at PVO! It's no half wit home baked deal - it's had high level help and has had top factory experts advice on it.

9.15 seconds/150mph in a Viper on single carb, no EFI, no NOS, no boost - is not bad. It's a long way from potential - but that trap speed will run a high 8 - it just needs some chassis sorting, maybe a converter swap is all.

Anyone else done that yet in their n/a Viper?

Try adding EFI and twin turbos to that 572 Hemi then see what she'll run. That engine would easily street - pity it's only race.

572 Hemi - oh YEAH! :atu:

But it'd still be a poor mans car and a Chev - just like 10 million others

/images/graemlins/flipa.gif You can aspire higher Craig - you really can one day own a Viper and not dream about a fox body - I believe you can! /images/graemlins/supergrin.gif

If I was building a drag car I wouldn't even bother with the Viper. If 8's were my goal I would build up a mustang. Parts are a dime a dozen and the car is perfect for drag racing.

A Viper is much better for me, I prefer to turn rather than just go straight.

Also I think I recall you saying you owned a Skyline. Got any pics? Those cars are awesome.

Skyline pics - on my home computer - I'll send to imagestation and post a couple for ya.

Car is sold now - but I keep in touch with what the new owner is up to. It made 1011nm at wheels but peaked at just 5500rpm. It was a long stroke 3.2 litre not the high winding GTR 2.6 motor. That meant it was a torquemonster that would rpm to 7k but was really at best from 3000-6000. The GTR's hotted up were more 4500rpm - 8000+.

The best thing was AWD - you could clip the apex on a 3rd gear turn and nail it before pointing at the exit.... car would power slide about 6 inches then catapault out of the turn like a RWD car could only dream about. Find twisty road, hunt superbike - kill it! :atu: :atu:

*sigh* Craig you are on the wrong boards! you should be over on the 'Busa boards talking about your 12k bike that can blow the pants off everything on the road.. As torque sez.. it's a Viper.. not a rustang. :slap:

I kinda have to agree with Craig there - it's like using a shovel as a soup spoon, it's the wrong tool for the job. If you want to go fast in the 1320, there's no point to trying to use a Viper as you'll constantly be playing catch-up. It goes the same way for road-racing; you'll spend more money getting a Mustang up to a stock Vipers level that you may as well have just bought the Viper.

I respect the effort, but it's just not my cup of tea :twocents:
