On Tuesday, I went to Nelson Lamborghini in Ohio and traded in my Z06 for a red Viper RT/10 with 7000 miles. Contrary to what lots of Vette owners said about the Viper being uncomfortable (most of which have never driven one), I drove it home 200 miles in the winter and it was fine. I got a lot of waves and gawkers on the highway, which is something I never got in my Corvettes. The Z06 had a lot more electronic features, and more cargo space...but that doesn't seem to matter to me because I never really used them much anyway. I must say that I have completely fallen in love with this car and I can't stop smiling.

This is probably a really dumb question..but is the leather bag in the trunk meant for the soft-top, or the rear window? I have tried folding the soft-top every possible way, and i have not been able to fit it inside of the trunk.

Just for fun, what is the fastest 0-60 mph, and quarter mile ever done by a Gen 2 RT/10?

Hope to see some of you on the road,

Andy

Hey,

I'm actually in Ann Arbor, MI, but I drove down to Marysville to get the car. About two hours after I drove the Viper home, I saw pictures of the new C6 Corvette and it just made me even more happy about my choice. I guess that Corvette is even taller and narrower than the previous model, and trying more to appeal to the general public.

Congrats! My friend ChrisGTS traded his Z06 for a Viper, too.

The soft case you have is most likely for the rear window... it's about 8 inches wide, and 4-5 feet long, right?

As for fitting the soft top, you'll have to fold it into thirds. OK, let me try to describe the folding in words... after you unscrew and collapse the two sides, you'll want to grab the rear of the top, and fold the top accordian style. However, don't fold via rolling up. If you envision the rear and front third of the top, they will be same side up... ie, if you have the top laying on your car's rollbar and windshield frame upside down, the front and rear third will BOTH be facing upside down (while the middle third is facing the opposite direction) after folding. If you are looking at the folded top from a "sideview," the fabric will make a "Z" pattern. Make sense?

To fit this in the trunk, start by sticking the driver's side in first (making sure to avoid the amp). Then, you should be able to put the passenger side in. It should be detailed in your instruction manual.

If none of this makes sense, just put the top in your garage /images/graemlins/smiles

Have fun!

Andy, the Gen 2's have 2 trunk bags. The large one is for the soft top and the small one is for the rear window. When you get the chance in warmer weather, you'll soon notice that the wind buffeting will diminish significantly if you drive with the rear wind removed while the top is off. Another piece of advice is that you may want to check into a hard top (you didn't mention if the car came with one). For cold weather driving, it's perfect. Car drives and "sounds" like a coupe.

I think the fastest was 11.6x at 121??? Wasn't that Mike Brunton? The fastest magazine tested run was 11.77 at 120 or 121 mph I think... Look at that mph!!!

The above numbers for 1/4 mile times are 100% stock. Tires stock, filters stock, exhaust stock, etc.... You'll come to learn when the Viper tribe says stock, they mean 100% stock - like off the showroom floor stock. It may take a while to get used to the new meaning...

P.S. - Get used to the attention. And I hope you don't mind feeling like a rock star...
