On 10-26 SVS finally made the trip to the dragstrip to enter into Viper 1/4 competition. :burn:
Originally built for going to the Bonneville Salt Flats, we knew the SVS Stryker had a weight disadvantage at the dragstrip. Weighing in at 3650 lbs. dry weight and 3925 lbs w/ driver and fuel we had about a 200 lb disadvantage over the stock GTS weight of 3445 lbs.
Being a rookie dragracer I had to overcome some anxiety as doing everything right at the line happens very quick. On the third run things came together and I was hooked. Now the only thing to overcome is wondering when it will happen again, and going faster.
We had the same engine as we used at the Sandhills 1 mile shootout, except we upped the boost to 10psi. We went immediately to the 2 speed auto trans so we could go after the 8 second barrier.
The track temps were 37 degrees on 10-26 and from what I'm told around 60-70 degree track temps are ideal. It always seems like you get what you get when you go racing and then there's all those varibles that make you think about what might have been. Win or lose thats racing :thumb:
We beat the record of 9.66 by .25, not alot but quite substantial in drag racing. Im sure I have another .1 just in my launch. Take 200 lbs out of the Stryker and bump up the boost to 15 psi on a 60-70 degree day and we will see what we can get.
Thanks to all who supported us and can't wait to drum up some more excitement.
Yunior
(We have the fuel pump solid mounted to the frame and the harmonics are terrible. It will be changed by the next time we compete. Imagine how quiet the car is if you take away that awful buzzing. Oh well thats what a test R+D vehicle is for.)
Enjoy! :thumb:
