We had a lot of fun at the V10 Nationals. Thanks Dr. Roof and to so many others who helped. I will make a seperate thread for all the people who need thanks.

Just wanted to update everbody on our Venom Twin Turbo SRT. This car currently has the stock Gen 3 motor. Stock heads, cam, lifters, rockers and stock cast pistons. It has our Venom twin turbo system, adjustable boost controller, 3 in. stainless side exhaust and 100 shot of NOS. At the dyno day event the car dyno'd 788 rw hp and 998 rw torque on 12 psi no NOS and 885 rw hp and 1070 rw torque on NOS.

We made a few boost-only passes on Saturday nite. We were able to get a 9.94 @ 124 mph that nite while blowing an intercooler hose off at the 1000 ft. mark. Got the hose fixed and came back Sunday morning for the big race. We still wanted to get 1-2 boost only runs in before we tried the NOS.

Saturday morning was perfect conditions with sun shining and cool air. Our first pass was made on 14 psi boost no NOS was 9.88 @ 152.2 with a 1.64 60 ft. time. Tires spun pretty bad in 1st and 2nd. So on the next pass we turned the boost down to 13 psi and ran 9.75 @ 148.7 mph with a 1.48 60 ft. time. I will post the timeslips when I get a chance to upload them.

3rd pass we turned the boost down to 12 psi and turned on the NOS. Broke the rearend at the starting line. Found a replacement diff and took a few hours to replace it. Made a few more passes on the NOS and could not hook up.

Anyway, it was a great learning experience with this car and we will get back to the track ASAP.

Sounds pretty amazing for stock cast piston car. WOW

Do you feel it is safe to run stock pistons with that much boost ?
Re: SRT TT: 9.75 @ 147.8 & 9.88 @ 152 (no NOS)

This car looked like it was slingshot out of the starting gate. Unbelievable car!
Re: SRT TT: 9.75 @ 147.8 & 9.88 @ 152 (no NOS)

Mike - its kind of an experiment in what we are doing. I have the lower compression JE pistons and Manley rods ready to go into this motor for a 522 CID stroker short block. But I wanted to see how much power the stock motor would make and how long it would live. So far the motor still runs great. We will probably run it at the track a few more times to try to get a few good passes on boost and nos. Then we will pull the motor out to do the stroker, heads, cam, etc. This car will also get an auto at some point this winter.

I would not run this kind of power on a cast piston motor if I owned it. But so far the stock bottom end seems to be in good shape after a dozen dyno pulls and a dozen runs at the dragstrip, including 5 passes in the 9's.

Keep everyone informed as to how your experiment pans out. Sound like an great idea. Congrats man

That car jumps out of the hole so violently! It's amazing to watch! Congrats John! :thumb:
Re: SRT TT: 9.75 @ 147.8 & 9.88 @ 152 (no NOS)

I read they are "castalite" not cast in the old way of thinking. But still not as strong as forged.
Re: SRT TT: 9.75 @ 147.8 & 9.88 @ 152 (no NOS)

beautiful car...very docile...until you get on it and then its very, very violent! unbelieveable car! great job John!
Re: SRT TT: 9.75 @ 147.8 & 9.88 @ 152 (no NOS)

Hey John, why weren't you driving your SRT-10 twin turbo at the track? You had some skinny guy driving it...was that your secret weapon for a lighter car and quicker e.t.s?
Re: SRT TT: 9.75 @ 147.8 & 9.88 @ 152 (no NOS)

It had a great exhaust note--not loud or raspy, very subdued when cruising slowly. Yet you could see the front wheels almost lifting when you were hitting it. Great power.
Re: SRT TT: 9.75 @ 147.8 & 9.88 @ 152 (no NOS)

NachoMan - We think that my extra 75 lbs over our fine driver this weekend will help give us much needed traction out of the hole. Making sure that the NOS system is working might help a little too.

Schillinger - great to see you, thanks for the kind words. When you getting another Viper?
Re: SRT TT: 9.75 @ 147.8 & 9.88 @ 152 (no NOS)

I noticed there was a lot of hype over whether the Hennessey car was running on nitrous or not. At one point crowds gathered around the SRT-10 looking for nitrous and dudes were video taping the whole thing, and then when everybody was satisfied that he was legit they went out and ran a 9.8 on boost. Later in the day many people saw them bolt in the nitrous bottle and make a run. The car lauched hard and then it looked like the driver hit the NOS in second gear which smoked the tires and made the car go sideways and the driver let out of it. I just wish that the track was open later (wasn't it supposed to be open until 5 pm?) to see if Hennessey's SRT-10 could make a clean pass with the nitrous. If the car ran a 9.7 and 9.8 on boost, I can only imaging what it would do with even a mild hit of NOS.

Great times and awesome trap speeds John on a stock engine - you'd have to be very pleased with that! Those torque figures are unreal!

I still have a mental picture of that thing JUMPING off the line! Shit I need a TT!
Re: SRT TT: 9.75 @ 147.8 & 9.88 @ 152 (no NOS)

Sounds like John is proving what Mustang drivers have known for years about cast pistons--it's all in the tune.

you were doing a great job getting your car off the line! nice driving my friend. i was very impressed!

what is that saying about you....fast on the track, but faster off!

lol!
Re: SRT TT: 9.75 @ 147.8 & 9.88 @ 152 (no NOS)

Hennessey's SRT-10 twin turbo ran pretty impressive numbers considering that it is still a bone-stock engine. But, the real question is what will it run like with a set of ported heads, a cam, and some rockers? Anybody offer these upgrades for a new SRT yet?

Re: SRT TT: 9.75 @ 147.8 & 9.88 @ 152 (no NOS)

A fully built TT SRT is going to fly. John may well be building another 8 second car if the boost is turned up and an auto fitted. :atu:

A friends SRT made 540rwhp with mild cam, ported heads and headers after tuning at Heffner Performance. It's also getting twin turbo'd by Jason right now, although the stock cam will be refitted.... so yes other tuners are doing SRT10's too.

But John's Venom is the first TT SRT10. You have to respect an engine that makes as much torque as that one does on stock base motor /images/graemlins/dude /images/graemlins/thumbs2
