If any of you guys can talk shit about this system, you dont know what the fuck you are talking about. We all talk shit about the vettes, but come on, if you guys are car guys you should be able to appreociate the AWESOME craftsmanship in that engine bay. Everything is TIG welded with mandrel bends. They are using great equipment, twin turbonetics deltagates, T-bolt connectors, and everything is ceramic coated. Moreover, the amount of time it took to fabricate an exhaust manifold like that would be mind boggling. A lot of thought went into making the plumbing of that work....I say its sweet. I would love to have a car like that in my garage.

That is an awesome looking system..... I like that much better than the superchargers I have seen on the C5s of late.

Under boost is where they would make the biggest difference. Any time you have air change direction it will cause a restriction. The 90 is one big one.

I have seen 90's glow red hot in an exhaust system on headers, and they were much further downstream then the smooth bends that were not red. The reason, one big restriction. Now this won't heat up, it just will cause a "flow jamb".

Long smooth tapers is what you want and need. That is a great set-up except for that.

I will look for my old physics books and double check this. I could be wrong but I doubt it.

True but it has to change directions and that sharp bend is not good. Same reason why you want straight shots into the intake ports and into the combustion chamber. But that is also about fuel fallout and such...

I will have to dig up a book, might take me time to find it though. All my stuff is still packed from moving, and I am still not done with it. :doh:

Maybe someone else could chime in on this with some hard facts? :nod:

Those 90 degree bends on on the INLET OF THE COMRESSOR side of the turbocharger. The bend is not on the turbine side nor is it on the compressor outlet side. One bend on the inlet side have minimal effect on the flow dynamics especially when it bends right into the compressor wheel. Do the Reynolds numbers and the flow calculations by adding one bend with a constant radius into an unpressurised tube....not a big difference. The system looks like pure mechanical art. Too bad the vette has a plastic intake manifold, add the lingenfelter polished aluminum piece and WOW!

The kit is ok at best, those who think this is quality need a refresher course on their turbo knowledge.

The wastegates are turbonetics crap, about the worse wastegate you can find but you get what you pay for.

The compressor inlet is horrible, the restriction will definitely be there on the filter side. Not to mention all the oil which is going to get sucked past the oil seal due to the huge restriction on the filter side.

The headers are going to cook everything under the engine bay, I hope the owner of the car does not plan on driving much further than a 1/4 mile.

I don't know what the fuel/ignition setup is like but seeing this stuff makes me think rising rate fuel pressure regulator.

The sad thing I still envy the kit even though its nothing special cause its probably around 6k. We Viper owners cant even get a crappy blower for under 7.

Anytime you make a turn you cause a certain amount of flow restriction, the sharper the turn the more the restriction. It doesn't matter if it's naturally aspirated or under boost from any type of supercharger or turbo. It's still going to be harder for the intake flow to make a 90% turn rather than flow in a straight line or lesser degree turn.

That's just basic physics. :slap:

The biggest problem with that pre filter restriction is going to be oil consumption. You can make up the power loss by turning up the boost, but that will result in hotter air inlet temps.

We are probably looking at a 1-2 psi restriction in over all boost levels, versus a nice 6 inch or shorter pipe with a big Cone style filter sitting at the end, per turbo.

Nice to look at - not well designed. The turbo's are small and have 90 degree bends both on exhaust exit and air intake - that will add excess heat and restrict power. The small turbos may be good for 800hp and will spool quickly due to the nice headers getting a straight shot - but it could have been a lot better. There was room. The end result may still be very good however - turbos are forgiving little critters these days with programmable tuning etc.
