For something like a Viper, which is going to be a weekend toy, I really feel it should be something comfortably purchased outright. If you finance a toy I think you set yourself up for buyers remorse and potential financial hardship.
I know you say you have rental income to offset you living expenses, but what happens if one or both of them up and leave? Can you cover the car loan and the mortgage if they're gone? What if they leave and you find out you need to repipe your house? Could you afford everything then? Maybe the answers to all of these questions are yes.
Ultimately, it's still up to you. What you feel comfortable with and what you want to do. As Mark said, you can't look to others for validation, they won't be paying for, or driving, your Viper.

I'm 23 and bought my first Viper this year. I was kinda looking at it from your point of view however I do make more than 40k, but even so it's all about budgeting. Personally I wouldn't change my choice to buy a Viper at all. It's what I love and what I do, but it's not my primary car.
Hope that was of enough "value" to your post. If you've read enough posts to see the flaming that goes on here you obviously have read enough posts to know that flaming IS the proper welcome you should expect. Since you don't want a proper welcoming maybe you could provide some value of your own to the forum like donating to the site or at least post nude pics of some co-eds, it's an amazing concept tbat you should try!

u guys are funny. since when did $40k for a single person become so poor and destitute?
the smart thing to do is to save and invest but hell how many of us did that in our early 20s? not me. provided he has good credit, he would easily qualify for the loan.

You should set a goal for yourself and do what it takes to fulfill it.
If you manage your Money properly you can afford it easily. If you have alot of stupid debt like credit cards and such forget about it until you get that out of the way.
The viper will be a real joy to have especially at your age. A guy who works for me bought one last year and he is early 20's and it changed his life, he drives around with a great big smile on his face! LOL
if your good with your money do it, if not forget about it.

You're are totally writing off your maximum earning potential, as well as your entrepreneurial sense...Whatever happened to taking risks, and going out on your own, running a small business...It's as American as apple pie, you fuck!
Why settle for a lousy $40K year job, when you can rake in high six figures, as a member of the Medillin drug cartel...You would be distributing a product that has mass appeal. Everyone from yuppie CEO's, all the way down to your average, run of the mill crack whore is your consumer base...
You are young enough, that even if you were to get pinched a couple of times, who cares??? What's a measly three-five year stint, in a maximum security facility at your age??? Do it. I am now 30 but I bought my first hummer at 24 and have several more and my first lamborghini at 26 Now my vipers and I love them do it.
Just do not live beyond your means or it is not worth it.ps We make a little more but listen to the other post save $ and buy.
