For those who have installed a roe sc on their cars THEMSELVES...was it really dummy proof and can one who is not blessed with an ounce of mechanical inclination (I'm not that bad) really install this?

We have a guy in the club up here that said it was fairly easy... He put one on a 97 red/gold package GTS... I'll see him this weekend at ViperDays and see if it is still running at normal temps...

The only thing that would scare me is that you say you have "not blessed with an ouce of mechanical inclination". And the Roe kit appears to require a lot of fiddling to make it run right.

The two together sounds like a recipe for problems. Most I know that have installed these are guys who would not be afraid to tackle a job like pulling a head or swapping a clutch.

i did the installation alone with a friend with zero YES zero mechanic experience ,you know i was so scared, i never did this before, my first mod ever headers and Exhaust. and i was so scared when i heard some guys talking about there viper tech and so, i said to my self there is no way i can do this my self, well guess what i did it /images/graemlins/headbang.gif and Sean really meant it when he said its "Easy DO It YoursSelf Installation" the manual is easy, parts are organized and of course sean support, and dont worry its doesn’t need any tuning to work right huh ,VEC2 handle it pretty good and you have the joy of swapping smart cards /images/graemlins/supergrin.gif i love doing this on public, i mean swapping cards..lol

SRTMIKE,

I have some mechanical experience. That was an exaggeration and it was to call out all of those who had NO experience and see how it went for them. How long does something like this take?

You just lift the hood and pull the VEC2 off of its velcro mount and push in a smart cart and 2 seconds later you're set for going from 93 octane to 100 octane or whatever octane you just filled up with and ready to go trackin'. Pull the smart card out and stick the VEC2 back on and close the hood. That's all there is to it.

not at all /images/graemlins/supergrin.gif you slide the smart card in and pull it back,to program the VEC2 for timing, fuel octane, boost, etc different cards have different setups,it wont take more than few seconds /images/graemlins/supergrin.gif here is some pic's

Smart Card:

If you have some it should not be too bad I would think so long as you're comfortable doing it.

A buddy of mine tried to do the install with one of those $9.99 chinese import socket sets from Pep Boys - didn't have too much luck /images/graemlins/laughing.gif

Want me to fly in and install it for you ? $7495 installed.....plus a little, $300 or less depending on where you are towards the airplane fund. If you can do moderate work like r&r an intake then you will be ok

He is for real, I have seen him put this price on another board with the offer to fly out and do it.

For the $ I say go for it. Not worth getting "dirty". :thumb:
