Anyone know the particulars about purchasing an extended warranty after the factory one expires? The fuel pump in the 96 has died for the second time since new. Dealer quoted us $1600 roughly to get it done (it's gotta go in for the recall soon anyway) and I'm just wondering if it would be worth it to purchase an extended warranty (only has about 8K miles on it) in case anything else decides to break.

Also are the newer fuel pumps any better than the ones used in 96's or are they all the same? It's embarassing having to crank the thing for 10 seconds to get it to start when there's people around.

TIA

$1600??? That's unreal. From what I've heard the GTS fuel pump isn't that hard to replace. Parts cost may be up there. I'll have to call Tator and find out since my GTS needs a new pump also.

don't forget that's CDN $$

The price for the pump is around $850 which seems a tad unreal with me. I already directed my dad to Tator. We're going to PA in the first week of october so we could probably drop it off on the way down.

I just got one for my "new" 99 RT/10 from Chuck Tator(thanks Chuck!). Pretty simple process, the only thing I have to do is write a check(ouch, wallet hurts :bawling:). I tacked on 4 years and miles are good until 60K.
