New member here. I have a Gen 2 GTS and I'm wanting another Viper. After spending hours reading about Gen V engine issues I've decided to get a Gen 3 or 4. I ran across a 2006 that supposedly at some point in time posted 910 rwhp on E85. That's according a dyno sheet taken yesterday or a decade ago, no one knows. I'm hoping someone on here recognizes this car. I really want it but I have no idea who built it. Supposedly it has forged pistons but in tracking down previous dealer ads not all show forged pistons. Any advice is appreciated.

Current ad for the car:

Previous dealers ad:

Another previous dealers ad:

Video 2 (Sounds kinda not as smooth as the current video):

Video 3 (Yet another dealer)

Carfax (Anything concerning? This thing has bounced a few dealers lately):

Can't think of any viper tuners I'd trust in Illinois. Just noticed at least 5 previous owners ? I'd be expecting to get this car cheap without much more info on the build and car
Thanks for the feedback. The leak down test is a good idea. I'm not sure how much that runs on top of a standard PPI but I could get some quotes. Finding tuners has been difficult. We have 91 octane here in SLC. The car is currently tuned for 93. Honestly, this dealer has about zero knowledge on who tuned or did what so maybe it's tuned for 91, its anyone's guess. Unfortunately the two big speed shops here can't tune it. I emailed someone people have used here in Cali and I'm waiting for a response. Calvo, the big boys want $15k to tune it but they also require a Motec.

Concerning the car priced too high. I don't know about that. I understand mods especially without documentation scares people off but it does appear to be a fully built car. Just from a visual it looks well done. I know that's a gamble, but gambling on Tesla bought my first Viper lol. I think the car is likely priced right based off the insane demand for vehicles right now.

Paxton had a great package for Vipers. Put out about 800 hp on a stock motor. Usually included a couple extra fuel pumps mounted in the engine bay. A device was installed to reduce timing as the revs increased. The cars were pussy cats to drive. Down low they felt like just a really well tuned Viper. No stumbles or surging. Mild boost built smoothly at revs. At above 3,000 rpm the turbo came alive and poured out the power. Kept the stock rev limit, and many would shift early to reduce traction issues. Problem seemed to be when owners built them over the 800 hp. Then all bets were off as additional stress often overwhelmed the stock components.

A prudent buyer would have the car looked over and driven by an experienced Viper tuner. Risks are significant when buying from an unknown tuner.
The behavior of the Paxton seems ideal for a car without traction control. In searching through forums everyone lists Roanoke Motors as the Viper experts in Illinois. I contacted them to see what they can do. It would be ideal if they could go over the car for me.

Congrats on the car! Funny how some say “ Snooze you lose” and others were saying the car wasn’t worth the price. To me it definitely looked worth the price. I didn’t pull the trigger because I just couldn’t get enough info on the build. I wanted to send the car off to a shop to get leakdown, compression, and an unbiased opinion on the health of the cat but no one I contacted would respond. I realized that deal always pop up, you just have to be patient. I’m thrilled you got a great car. I think some people feel like I should be upset or something because I missed out but why would I be unhappy that another viper owner got a great car? I ended up getting a 98 Twin Turbo Viper GTS with full documentation including blueprint records for the Proline built engine. Last Tuesday I drove 16 hours driving from SLC to cali, fighting traffic in and out staying the night in Vegas before heading home the next day. I’ll try and post a pic of the car. Like you I also want to tetune mine. I’m looking at having A&C Performance tune the car. I’m also thinking of having them pull the engine and trans and refreshing everything. I would have probably done the same has I purchased that yellow car.
