Im about to buy tickets to fly out to houston (and Maryland) and I wanted to make sure that there are no changes to powerfest. Is this correct? Everything is still on?

Personally I would wear a bullet proof vest if you plan to go. If that guy ripped me off I would certainly pay him a visit with a couple of my corporate "collection" boys to take care of some unfinished business.

well i doubt smokin, or anybody else for that matter is going to benefit any of JPH's causes! but to see top tuners of all sorts, that is something worth going for. and for 10 bucks watching fee, cant beat that. we are all viper enthusiests so i dont see any problem with going, but that doesnt mean that i support anything that piece of shit has to offer!

Here's a useful update -

The track owner called me today and said he has a bump in the left lane down at the big end. He's got an IHRA national meet coming the weekend after Powerfest. He wants me to come profilograph the lane, find, and mark the bumps. After we get that done, we'll decide how to fix it right.

Nope. He said Powerfest is still on. Even if the surface has to be milled up and replaced, it would take more time to haul the equipment 20 miles one way to the job than to mill and pave the thing once we got there.

PowerFest is on for Feb. 22-23. Todd showed me this issue on the left lane of the track a month ago. You dont notice it or feel it at all. As a matter of fact I ran a 9.52 @ 156.46 the last time at RCR and did it in the left lane.

I think Todd, the track owner, contacted GTS Dean to try to do something about it before the big IHRA race which is the weekend after PowerFest. A 9 sec @ 150+ car has no problem. But a 6.2 @ 250 car may be a different story.

We are headed over there tomorrow to test. Will run that lane again in a mildly quick Viper.

Thanks for asking!

John

David,
It is about 5 hours (towing) from Lake Charles so add an hour from Lafayette. Much shorter if in a Viper. There is LOTS of road construction on I-10 from Lafayette through Tx. border so I would allow for more time depending of when you are driving. Night time is best for less construction traffic of course. Maybe GTS DEAN can come help speed things along!
The route from Lafayette/Lake Charles is a straight shot West on I-10. The track is on I-10.
What day is everyone planning to be in San Antonio area. I'm thinking of leaving early to get in some good social time off the track.
