I have no idea. Is there a standard calculation for those things? If it's a non-linear curve, can this even be calculated? (sorry, i'm a bit clueless when it comes to some of these things).

Thanks for the link.

I put in a time 11.9 with 3600 pound car and it said 420 at the wheels, which is resonable, but then it said it would be 546 at the flywheel which does not correlate, but who looks at the flywheel hp anymore.

Baaaaaaaahhhh I've got a good friend that runs 9.60 @ 145 in his street WRX, on street tires.

How many diffs has he gone through? I'm betting that driveline ain't stock /images/graemlins/supergrin.gif

My post was to point out taht WRX owners care to quote flywheel H.P. because after they get done on the dyno and see what's left after the AWD gets done consuming 20+% of the 227 they started with.

interior view during a run
exterior view of the same run

This was from a race my friend was in about two weeks ago. The day before he ran a 9.60. Pretty nuts for a WRX.

At first he was running a dogbox but was breaking half shafts left and right, I'm talking about breaking two at a time on the launch. He switched to an auto to make the launches less stressfull on the drivetrain. To run in the class that he does, the transmission has to be stock in one sense or another so from what I understand, the car's auto has been modified and beefed up, but still has some stock parts allowing it to qualify to race. I haven't seen him break any diffs yet and I don't remember him bitching about them breaking, so I think they are holding up to the power. The weakness has always been the halfshafts. Over 800 hp and AWD tends to twist some shit up.

About the WRX guys and their version of power.... I go to the impreza websites once in a while and have a good laugh and some of the stupid shit some of them say. I get the impression that a huge percentage of them are 16 year olds with rich parents that buy them a WRX when they got their drivers liscense.

Most of them love to hate vipers by the way. I usually hear what a huge, overpriced, piece of crap it is. I remember going by my friends shop when he had a get together for a bunch of WRX guys. I rolled up in the viper. I can't say how many times I heard someone murmer, "I thought they were a lot bigger" or "Wow, the interior is pretty cool" A bunch of these guys just go on and bash the vipers even though they had never seen much less driven one before. They live in a world where their 200 something horsepower car is fastest thing they have driven and is therefor the best car in the world.
