Optimum spot in exhaust for the H-pipe ??

1565 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Mister Bone
Where would the optimum spot in exhaust be for the H-pipe ??

Would it be where the reinforcment strap is on the pipes on the right where the 2 sides angle inward together ??
How about on the wider portion, where they're parallel to eachother ?? How about where they're parallel at the narrow portion of the pipes ??

There must be an optimum spot for it, and before I get mine welded in, It would be nice to have some input from you guys.
Thanks !!!

Since you are most likely doing this for the sound effect only I would just put in an X-pipe like Dean has.

If you would like to know where the pipe should be for best performance gains, it would go after the header collectors at a distance of approx. 12-18 inchs. This is not going to happen on a Viper.

H and X-pipes will basicaly do the same thing, but have subtle differences in where in the rpm band they acheive some positive effect.

The H or X-pipe will more than likely have zero performance gains being in the back of the system.

Thanks Jerome for the information on the performance end of the H-pipe.

GTSDean,

That Looks AWESOME !!!
X-pipes going in !!!

I just printed that picture of your X-pipe, and I'll bring it into my exhaust man and say, " Do it like this."

Oh by the way............... Nice '71 RoadRunner/GTX tips too $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Check this out for what a "good" X-pipe should look like.
