Anyone able to get rid of that noise with an OEM hard top. the noise can be described as.....hmm....THE MOST ANOYING SOUND IN THE WORLD! Actually, it sounds like 2 syrofoam coolers rubbing against each other. Almost the most anoying sound...second to radiostation static.

Lucky you John,

It maybe because this is the FIRST time I've ever put the top on. I don't know. It doesn't sound destructive in any fashion..sounds like it needs "breakin in" if that makes sense. No hard plastics making contact with other plastics...OEM top is lined with that moulding. I don't know. That's why i bring it to the table of experts so I don't have to think.

It may come from the rubber on the top rubbing with the sport cap on the car. Or it can be the top rubbing on the roll bar. I just bought some 3M tape to use on the roll bar to prevent the top from possibly rubbing onto the roll bar like on the 98 + models.

Mine squeaked, rattled, clunked, and made all sorts of horrible noises. So I cut off the cats and the mufflers, and the problem went away.

Can't say I have had my top on a hole lot either. Maybe the retaining clips on the back are too loose? Does your top fit nice and snug. I have to lean on my with some weight in order to hear the clips "click" into place.

I gotta lean a bit, but very little, just enough to get the clips engaged. Nothing unusual, I don't suspect?

My Gen I had that same prob. with a ViperMania top. All it took was some felt and 3M spray glue applied to the bottom of the top where it made contact with the sport cap. The problem then went away. My 01 has not had that prob with the factory hard top. Hope this helps.

Bik top is a paaaaain in the ass :bonk: But the trunk liner can be a reality cost about $325.00. Fabrication is no prob just the prop rod has to go because the logo is right where it attaches. BTW glad to be over to the other side.
