Toby: you know, as in "Texas Tuna", tuner. I'm not one to throw names around, but that gets it close.

Jerome: In my opinion of this car, the rockers most likely needed adjusting at some point and the owner never took care of it. It looks like the rockers were bouncing off of the valve tip and started wearing on the valves and rockers. Just my $.02

So true. It looks like some guys want to set-it and forget-it. Does not work that way.

Thanks for the answer. :thumb:

Rockers look like they were set up wrong, so it's hard to know what to
blame - the product or the installer. Even T&D's would do this if they
were set up wrong.
A few more miles and you would have dropped a valve - actually it's hard
to see what kept that last valve/keepers from parting.

It looks to me like the smashed metal is all that is keeping the valves from flying out of the reatiner. Even the locks are beat up! I put the rockers back on while pulling the head so I didn't catch a valve spring in the face! Nasty! But it is funny, all of the other rockers tips spin, but the majority of the rocker tips are flattened so it appears they weren't rotating on the valves.

Whoops!!!

Not the first set of Crowers I have seen like this. I went with the T&D's.
Me too... and for that very reason... T&D's are more but a bargain compared to vew valve trane or worse yet, a new motor. Hardened push-rods are the ticket too.
I think that's the general feeling, even though it could be a coincidence
that all the Crowers are installed by idiots, I wouldn't want to chance it.

It scared me just looking it, I definitely wouldn't go near it without
safety glasses.

I hope you pulled your oil pan and cleaned it out.
This is a good reason to use screens or glue magnets in your heads.

No doubt, the pan is coming off. The customer is a little shocked and worried to say the least.
David..what's up? What are you working on next week? I'd like to stop by again and hang out for a while maybe take some more pictures. :thumb:
