Trying to find the location of this ground wire that comes off the power distribution harness. I believe the manual says it's ground 302 but doesn't say anything about where it attaches to. If anyone can point out the location of where this goes that'd be really helpful

Perhaps this will help you out-
Haha, that picture makes it more confusing! I was certain it was G302 which the 03 manual says it exists but doesn't show you where. My manual shows it roughly the same way as those pages (minus the export options), which seems to imply it is STARTER MOTOR (B+) however(!) if you go forward a couple pages to figure 10 (Rear Engine Compartment) it shows STARTER MOTOR(B+) now coming from the tunnel! Later the manual also notes that the wire colors for the starter are red, which is the color of the wire in the tunnel.

If the wire labeled STARTER MOTOR(B+) Fig 1. Left Engine Compartment is actually a negative lead/ground for the starter then that makes sense and I might be able to find it's location since I'm assuming they wouldn't put a red wire and a black wire on the same starter post, no?

Edit: apparently they did...
Mystery is solved

Let the wire hang down towards the starter. It's exactly the right length to attach to a stud or bolt somewhere reasonably convenient to access. My guess is that it attaches to the engine, but I haven't had a Gen3 for 20 years.

Yep, that was the one!

It was a second wire that went to the starter - super confusing because I didn't take it off, the manual labels two wires as starter motor (battery + ) and one's red while the other's black...super weird

A proper wiring harness should have every different connector pigtail branched and clocked so that it drapes naturally and leaves little doubt as to what goes where.
