Hi all,

I am looking for a new lift for my garage, what would you suggest, the drive up ramp type, like the kwiklift, or a scissor type lift?

You need to take a good, hard look at what you want it to do for you, how much headroom you have for installation and structural adequacy of the floor.

Wheels & tires, fluid service only? Scissor.

General mechanical work? Twin post.

Fluids service, alignment, additional parking? 4-post with jack bridge.

I plan on doing a mix of fluid changes, and general mechanical work, don't think I want the expense of a twin post, was debating between a kwiklift and a scissor. What is the down side of the scissor?

All depends on height you have, area you have, what you want / need it for, and how much you want to spend. I have a QuikLift and it works great. I got the additional centerlift bridge and the casters.

What is the down side of the scissor?

Lack of access to the transmission area of the car, creeper movement limitations and loss of clear floor area.
