Is this a fair priced 2000 RT10?

OK, I posted this several days ago on Autotrader and the Viperalley/Morgue classifieds. Is $50k too much to ask for my RT10? Here's what it has...

BTW, I'm looking to buy an older GTS with high mileage after I sell my RT10 (I'd rather have an older one with higher mileage, as I think I'd be more willing to drive it). I find it interesting that most 96-97 Vipers are selling for 5-6k miles OVER blue book, yet the newer Vipers are selling for below blue book...

SHOWROOM condition Viper w/ 7 year MAXCARE warranty. 13,800 miles. Drive this amazing vehicle without worrying about costly repairs! $6,000 in extras included with purchase: MGW Short Shifter, EBC Green Kevlar Brake Pads, K&N Air Intake, Battery Tender Installed (This charger AUTOMATICALLY turns itself off when the battery is fully charged. Keep your alarm working at all times, without draining your battery!), Amsoil Synthetic Oil-Changed every 2,500 miles, NGK Racing Spark Plugs, Chrome Cigarette Lighter w/ EJECT logo, Dodge Maxcare Warranty (This warranty can ONLY be purchased before the factory warranty runs out. So, if the car does not have one already, you are out of luck! This warranty covers your car for almost all items, INCLUDING the engine, transmission, driveshaft, etc. Save yourself tens of thousands of dollars with this warranty, in the event that you have a mechanical breakdown.), Hard Top-$2,500, Soft Top-$1,000, Viper Logo Floormats-$200, Viper Logo Custom Fit Car Cover-$350 (keeps the dust off when she is garaged), Stainless Steel Straight Pipe Exhaust System (deeper, throatier sound), Prewired for Valentine 1 Radar Detector (no exposed wires or cords!), Gorilla Wheel Locks/Lugs, Stock parts included, in case you want to remove modifications (which I highly doubt), CLEAN Carfax Title GUARANTEED! The Viper Experience is unrivaled. To get more power and performance than this 450hp/490torque V10 would require that you spend 3-4 times as much money. This car blue books at over $56k. With the extras I've thrown in, the package is worth well over $60k. Why the low price? What's the catch? There is none. The CARFAX is clean. You have a SEVEN YEAR WARRANTY, so there will be no "hidden" nightmares in repairs (try getting that guarantee with the other Vipers for sale!). I am downsizing my vehicle collection, and have priced this car to move QUICKLY. Always garaged, never driven in rain or snow!

Damn.. I hate to break it to you, but you are on a Viper board. That ad is worded like none of us have ever seen, let alone own, Vipers. I don't know what your Viper is worth but i am sure there are people on this board that can tell you. Ultimately realize your Viper is only worth what someone is willing to pay. If you can't get your asking price then that is a damn good indicator you need to drop the price some.
:twocents:
I would say your asking anout $3K-4K under what it should sell for. You have a lot of extras on the car to include a great warranty. Don't under price it, maybe settle for $52K because you'll get low ball offers right from the start no matter what the price is.
I wouldn't sell mine for...onebilliondollars...

Haha... yes, I know, the ad is cheesy. However, I wrote it for Autotrader, and then just cut and pasted it here. If I didn't elaborate on Autotrader, I don't think the viewer would appreciate the mods. You have to realize that only about 30% of Viper owners actually know anything about the car... that percentage is probably the same for people who are "in the market" for one.

As for a Viper being worth what someone is willing to pay... I'D be willing to pay at least 50k for it, so I guess that's what it's worth. I doubt I'll be dropping the price anytime soon. It's only been posted for a few weeks... I can live with keeping it in the garage for now /images/graemlins/smiles

Thanks for the input...

Thanks, at least ONE person agrees with me...

I started getting pissed over at the morgue, because all you get are low ball offers. Everyone chimes in on how little your Viper is worth, but when it comes to their own, they get annoyed when they themselves are lowballed. Sheesh.

Oh well, I guess I'll just let the ad run for a while. I think $50k is very fair, and in the end, it's me who decides how little I'd take for it. I called Palmer Dodge, just for shi$#@ and giggles, and they offered to trade me a STOCK 97 GTS with 30k miles for my RT10. Haha... yet another reason why they suck.
how many miles on it? or did I miss that in the ad?
Looks like a good price to me. I have a 98 that I wouldn't take under $44k for, so it seems that is in line.

Oh wait, I will trade you even steven for mine /images/graemlins/smiles

Good catch... on Autotrader and the morgue (why do they call it that anyhow?), there is a separate section for mileage. I updated the ad in the classifieds... 13,800 miles.
I actually would ask more than $50K for your Viper. Here's why - When you ask below market value for your car, people think that you want to move it fast and are desperate. Thinking that is where you are at, they will call you and ask if you will take low $40's, for it or maybe a little higher. If you start the ad at $52,000/$53 for example, then they can still talk you down and get the car for $50K (which is what you want in the first place). Honestly, i think your car is worth about $50K, maybe if a lttle more. If I had your car, I would be asking probably $54,500 for it (retail). Hope that helps. Good luck!
I would possibly consider...onemilliondollars...

Make it $999,998, and we would have a deal. Deal?

That's 20 Vipers that you can have for yours, what do you say?
Tiepilot, Nathan, Snakebitten,

Thanks for the commments... very constructive. Good point asking for more than $50k, and accepting $50k when people haggle... I just thought asking $50k would generate interest quicker. I really want to get a GTS ASAP! I never knew the Alley was this active... I've gotten more responses here than over there. In fact, I didn't even know this site was really around until Toby told me (even though I registered back in Feb., but never came back until this past week):)

Looks like I'll have yet another site to spend time on!
If it was a 2001 red rt/10 (I want the ABS) and a few months from now, I would take it /images/graemlins/smiles I'm really considering selling off my Gen I RT/10 in favor of a newer RT/10 which I *might* get turbo charged in the near future, depending on what I think after I race Yellow Fever's Turbo'd car as well as go for a spin in it. Then I will have a SC and TC car. Wooo hoooo! I do love my Gen I though.

Christmas, Landscaping, my recent 99 GTS purchase, an investment and taxes have killed my funds for a handful of months. No worries folks, I will bounce back from this horrendous period of financial woe!

I agree with the majority of people that have responded here. It sounds like your car is worth every bit of $50K.

I certainly commend you for your aggresive, no-haggle pricing. I like that approach. I know what I'm willing to pay and generally what something is worth. I'll do my research beforehand. If I was in the market and saw your ad, realizing it was a fair, even more than fair, price I wouldn't hesitate to buy and not haggle it.

Maybe raise it a little, as mentioned, and let the hagglers work it down to $50K so they feel they've accomplished something.

Good luck with the sale, looks like a really nice RT.
