Getting an occasional crackle out of my speakers, thinking they are in need of replacement?

Snake Bitten, I have the Kicker subwoofer replacement you suggested a while back, so what should I do for speakers inexpensively to go with that?

You didn't ask me but my advice is to swap them out with your other Vipe...oops sorry.
I think I'll swap them out next time I stay at your place :fist: /images/graemlins/laughing.gif

Hmm, looks like the last auction listed says it includes 2 speakers, not clear in the first two posted...what do you make of that?

I found Kickers to be big pieces of shit. You actually like them?
I had the kickers in the hatch of my GTS but I put components in the doors. It was a big improvment.

Gerald, are you suggesting kickers for the doors also? I dunno if that would sound so good. The kicker is supposed to be a "mini sub" (really a midrange tuned for low end), so it worked great in the rear but I think you may miss some midrange sound if you just have the kickers and the tweeters, no?

I think I had Forgate Perfection or something components with the kickers in the trunk. It sounded good.

Jerome...The good attorney is looking for cheap and effective...I have the K525's in my doors, as does Par...They are a 5 1/4" Coax and for what they are supposed to do, they work very, very well...The RT is rather limited in the audio department anyway...With the factory amp, they are only getting about 20 watts RMS anyway...Trust me, they sound night and day over stock...

Mike...I have the Kicker 6.5" woofer in the console of my RT...No one made subs like Kicker, until they went to the square subs a couple of years ago...The K525's are designed for mid-range and highs, as it is a coax...

slaughterj...You can see which speakers are doing what easy...just remove the stocker 5 1/4's real quick, there's only three philips screws, if I remember correctly, you don't have to remove the door panel...The tweets will still work with the 5 1/4's removed...then turn it up and see if you get the same "noise"...Be careful not to "overdrive" these, they aren't that loud to begin with...I doubt this noise is coming from the tweets, as they have passive crossovers on them from the factory to block the non-tweet frequencies...Money says the "noise" is coming from the paper MiniVan stocker 5 1/4's...You will have to remove the door panel if your tweets are blown...

The K525's are not "top of the line"...MB Quart is...But they smoke the stock speakers and fit perfect in the stock holes, with the stock speaker grill's...I could not find an MB Quart that fit the stock location perfectly, without cutting, and I wanted a coax for a additional tweeter per side, thus added "highs"...The K525's are an direct replacement, and rock the fuck out just fine...You should here my set!

If I had a Viper to look at I could tell you for sure.

Give me the specs on depth, number of holes and placement, etc. and I will get back to you.

They do put the Kickers to shame and wattage range starts at 12 watts RMS

Check out the PDF file to see if you think they will fit.

http://www.bostonacoustics.com/manuals/FXinstall.pdf

All of my Bostons came with thin rings incase you had other than the standard 4 bolt mountings.

You should hear my Z6's, but at a grand a pair most people just shit themselves when they hear the price.

Come on Slaughterj - pad your next bill a couple of hours and step-up to the plate and get a set of MB Quart 5 1/4 seperates with 3/4" tweeters and the competiion x-overs.

If you don't mind doing a little trimming (and can sneak another hour on the bill) - go with the 6 1/2 MQ Quart Seperates. :thumb:

Niiiice.

Actually, cheap is good for me, not only because of the $, but also because I frequently drive through the rain (top off, door handles filled up and leaking over, etc.) and don't need to spend much $ eventually replacing components...
