is there an American Viper Team in the 24 hrs. of Lemans this June. I know there are FRENCH Viper teams, does anyone else have a competing Viper Team? Tell me Viper owner's are repsented by someone other than the French...how pathetic that would be. BTW, here's the Viper's Master for June/03, the new C5R. Prepare to be Dominated & Slaughtered once again as the new C5R shows No Mercy to the Weak(You) and Inferior(You).

I called several chebbie dealers, and ask them this very thing...Told them I want to order a C5-R, with a 427...They all laughed at me, but then told me that they were butt full of C5's and I could pretty much have anything I wanted....except a 427 /images/graemlins/laughing.gif

I think this guy has no clue about the rules for LeMans. Somebody should explain about how it's supposed to be the the stock displacement and type block from the street car to be run in the race car. Hell, the C-5R is a tube chassis race car with a corvette body on top of it. It bears no resemblance to this turd's C-5 whatsoever. The C-5R could just as well be mustang or camaro bodied race car! At least the Vipers share the same basic block, displacement, and frame as the LeMans winning Viper GTS-R's.

It's all how much advertizing money GM is spending and how much money DC is not. MikesZ06 is a cool guy who moderates the Z06Vette.com board. This Z06 Dust Douche has no clue that the only similarity between his beloved C-5 and the C-5R is the outward body appearance and he is just trying to start shit. Why dont we ask him why the Z06 does not come with an oil cooler or a deeper oil pan like the Viper does for racing. That is because GM does the minimum displacement, best gearing compromize they have to do to get dorks like him to buy the Z06. How hard would it be for GM to really step up to the plate and do a big block 454+ and make some serious power for a car that would not have to be geared just right to compete with the Viper 0-100. As long as there are enough people like Z06 Dork boy out there buying cars Gm will happily stick to the minimum. The Z06 is a nice car and all of the Z06 owners love their cars and think they are the best.... But I am sure every one who could afford to do so would sell their current Z06 in a heartbeat for a big block 454 Bad motherfucker if Chevy ever had the inclination to make one!===> Until GM does this and does some better styling, the Corvette will always be the Viper's bitch!

Paolo is right 100%. Generic Motors just builds "good enough" cars for their 'blind faithful.' Why build a 454 when they could put a 6 banger in a Vette and the sheeple would still buy it. What a bunch of suckers.

Guys, go pick up the latest Car & Driver. There's an interview in there with the guy who developed the C5-R for chevy. I don't have the mag in front of me, but there's a quote of him in there that goes something like...

"we went and tested everywhere, what we found was that we were faster than everything but the Vipers..."

So there you have it, straight from the guy who built the car for Chevy. If Dodge still provided factory support, even with the restrictors and added weight, the corvettes would have trouble. Of course, they would have just kept adding weight to the Vipers until the vettes could win. Its all pretty laughable really.

You have the wrong impression of this thread and are taking it far too personal. It was basically friendly razzing to see if there was another Viper Team in the 24 hrs. of Lemans I was unaware of. I still haven't received an answer to my question, I'm assuming the Viper's are represented by French Teams alone.

Also, this thread was focused on the cars, Viper guys here ,come on Vette boards all the time with the same spirit. See it for what it is.

There is no need for personal insults, that will only serve to cast a reflection on your character, your post and name calling is little harsh. I'm sure your a nice guy and an avid car ethusiast .... let's keep it friendly.

Well,..you could go directly to Katech and BUY a street version, or you could go and buy the "R" model from them also. It's all about the $$$. If you got it,..you can get it. Or,..you can buy Dick Guldstrands model,...a 427 ci street car, with a warranty.

Nice excuse. But the BOTTOM line is that GM COMPETEs WITH the VIPER with it's small block LS line block. and "Viper's bitch"....ahh,....beg to differ. Stock for stock, a Viper should edge the Z in straight line performance but,...just barely though. And i know you have all heard this before but, i'll say it to say it,...if you did heads and cam on the small block LS1/LS6,..look out Viper and just about anything else, and thats the truth(for under 55K).

The reason the Corvette is competitive is because Chevy has put a lot of cash into it. That's all. To be as competitive as they are, they had to build a tube chassis race car. Do you even understand what that is? Your Z06 frame does not resemble the C-5R any more than it does a Nascar P.O.S. looking Taurus. You are the one who started the insults "No Mercy to the Weak(You) and Inferior(You)" I do not know about anybody else here but I would venture to guess you have not purchased or studied any books about winning people over. Maybe you should go fuck yourself and piss off! When I posted on the Z06 board, I never came on with shit like yours. I was aware I was not in my own circle and posted apropriately. One more thing, you obviously do not seem to comprehend: The LeMans winning Vipers were always the french team Oreca who was sponsored by Dodge. So since Dodge pulled the plug on the sponsorship $$$$$$$$ a few years back to do some Nascar bullshit, the Vettes came in and inherited the lead........ Big fucking deal. Do you think that gives your street unibody Vette legitimacy? I would say not.
