I need input on hood mods

1006 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  HP
I've been thinking about adding louvers to my
hood - but I have pondered about doing something else - to the hood
to help the lines - and to be different.
There are a variety of fiberglass hood scoops and cowl add ons - (2" height or less)
The Viper has great lines - but maybe someone could photoshop a cowl induction
look of the old 71 Chevelle - or something else to give a different look.
BTW -I do bodywork and have experience with fiberglass - So I'm not going to
embarrass anyone or get ricey.

Autoform sells OEM-type hoods with your choice of louvers, NACA ducts, etc. Reasonably priced, too.
I guess every time I see a picture of a Daytona Cobra - It
gets me thinking about the center of the hood -
probably louvers, but maybe more pronounced or bigger.

Something like a cowl or something Hugh?
I want louvers too. The thought of hacking up a $14K hood gives me the creeps though.
Stick to the louvers - its proven and looks good. Adding a scoop - might look great - or might not - too much risk for me.

Good luck. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I thought all they made was ultra lightweight race stuff, but you can get a Gen2 replacement ready for paint at around $4k. If you want center louvers, they can do that too.
I wish I could upload the pics I took today at the autoshow of a louvered viper hood. Looks sweet.

Justin, If you're reading this, the car looks hella tight.
I just thought I would pitch the thought out, and see if
someone else had ran across something different looking.
I don't even have anything specific in mind - maybe the center louvers
would satisfy me, I just haven't ran across any good pictures.
It would be a next years project anyway - because I've got enough to chew on as
it is - considering Spring is right around the corner.
