Actually, I'd prefer to see the Coupe come in at around the same price as the current Gen III's; considering they are going for under list in many areas, seems like a good place to start.

I don't know why $90,000 is all that bad for a new Coupe as from what I remember 01, 02 ACR's were just about $100,000 and 01, 02 GTS's were around that $90,000 level (including taxes etc)

I do agree with MP though...They should price it out the same as the current SRT/10 unless they have lots more HP.

Not sure if the car will be over 90K, but this is the first place I have heard that figure. I am not a little birdie in a tree, and I don't think I am spilling any beans, as I have not heard a definite, but.......mumblings and innuendo gives me rise to a price under 90K.

Best term I heard on price is, " Viper owners will be very pleased."

Do you really want an "entry level" Viper? Isn't that how the Corvette ended up as a "secretary's car"?????????
That's how the beancounters could make it cost effective so the car could exist past this generation. Work=s great with Ford and the mustang. The v-6 cars make the $$ so they can make the cobras feasable. I don't see why that wouldn't work for the Viper...without the V-6 part. Hell I could even go as far to say throw the 400ish h.p. version of the HEMI V-8 in it, they've already bastardized it enough why not take that step???

Vipers are hardly exclusive as any full time factory worker can now afford to pick up used gen 1 and 2 cars for under 40K

Personally, I've always felt that the ACR option, is a rip-off, costwise. Not to take away from the vehicle, it's just a hell of a lot of money for what amounted to basicly be a wheel & shock option.

With all taxes & registration, I paid $71K for my blue/white GTS in October '97. Inflation over the past 7 years hasn't been that great to make the price jump to nearly $100K now. Of course we're speculating that the (proposed) new coupe will be $100K, or close to it.

Certainly, improvements to the vehicle haven't been that dramatic either to warrant such increases, especially since it's supposed to be a cheaper car to make.

If the coupe turns out anywhere near how kick-ass the car looked in Dallas (and from the sounds of it, they're not done with it just yet), than a sticker price of under $90K will be a great price for a great car.

BillP, Kasey is still waiting for that interview you promised /images/graemlins/laughing.gif

Sorry i agree w/ someone above the 10k(list) ACR for a set of shocks, 5pts, smooth tubes and some stickers(badging), oh yeah and wheels seemed like a lot to me. the coupe price should be right inline w/ the SRT unless there are other variables (MORE HP)

Dear Slow Eddy,

Good comment, but I have absolute confidence DC would never say that to us.They understand we are a macho, machismo, kinda of drivers ( male and female ) and we don't need no stinking lube job. We will just continue to leave that job to the KY Jelly folks at GM.

and have a nice day!

The key issue in price is that it will be compared against the $65K-70K C6 Z06 below which will weigh 3100lbs and have 500HP, and also the $140K+ Ford GT above which probably is putting out over 600HP (underated at 550HP).
But I'd say that keeping the weight down and raising the HP is far more important than $5K in price.

If the price climbs over $90K base, then you can bet that MUCH will be made of the difference over the C6 Z06's price, especially if the Z06 is quicker because DC drops the ball and doesn't raise the Viper's HP.

But if they raise the Viper's power rating to say 550HP/575TQ, and the real power to at least 575HP/600TQ, then it will be able to be compared to the much more expensive Ford GT, Ferrari 430, and the 997 Porsche Turbo.

I also like the looks of the new SRT-10 Coupe, but it absolutely needs more power to stay on top.

What have Dodge done to the Viper?

Don't give me crap about seeing the car in person will make me see it differently, that is one idea that has never worked with me. A car I find ugly on the internet is a car I find ugly in person. The back end is just horrid, they had a perfect chance to please the market with the CC looks but they've let that oppurtunity go. It may have cost more, but it would help the perception because I know I am not the only one hating the looks of this car.

The peak of the Viper was the Gen 2/CC purely in terms of looks.

People say this coupe is indicative of Dodge wanting the Viper on top, rubbish, if they did want that then they would have at least designed a car with better aesthetical properties. It may have cost more to use the CC bodystle or make the car look better from the rear, but it would have been worth the cash as it would help with the image. Believe it or not, I've already seen lots of Corvette owners who have always been interested in Vipers and even been contemplating buying one being put off by this coupe because it implies the future of the Viper isn't good if it will look like this.

Sorry, but I'm disappointed.

I like the looks of the Concept Coupe better than the Comp Coupe (for a real car), especially after you lower the concept an inch, and raise the CC up 3 inches to make it drivable on the street.
