hold the camera still and pan left to the speed-o meter.
Fifth is not always 200 but then why would anyone stretch the truth, that doesn't happen around here, great run.

rohn

oops there it is, you have to run it 2 or 3 times. The first time I ran it he only hit 163, the second time I ran it he hit 187 but the 3rd time I ran it he finally hit 200 plus. /images/graemlins/freak

count the gears.. top of 5th is probably above 200 mph... i believe thats PC's supercharged 97..

Eddie

OH MY GAWD!!! So that's what it looked like when we hit 200 last month. Thank goodness we had the windows up even though they started pouching out around 170 or so. /images/graemlins/drive I see the wind caught your jacket around 200 and blew in front of the camera.

Jason, it is definetly 200+ and it is a wild ride. Especially when that speed is attained in 28 seconds.

I am glad someone posted this so all the old and even young :yotony: can see what it is like to actually drive a car the way it was meant to be driven and not just sit around and talk about it.

That is the s/c'd GTS from the Chi-town area and it and the owner is one crazy and bad mofo. /images/graemlins/biggrin

That sounded pretty cool. 206mph in the standing mile? That is the begginings of a super-hype smack thread. :eatpop:

Here is a web site that calculates gearing/RPM/MPH: http://www.f-body.org/gears/

If you take a 335/35/17 mounted to the rim and measure the circumference and divide by 3.14, you get 25.8"(Tire Rack says 26.3")

The Orbital gears page says 25.4" which is too short.

The Speedo says 100 MPH for 4th gear @ 4000 RPM and 6th gear @ 2000 RPM.

This chart I pasted shows these same #'s. It also shows 209 MPH for the rev limiter(6200RPM) in 5th gear.

My interpretation of the Video is that the car hit 200 MPH by the mile marker which is probably where the green signs are from the toll booth. I also heard the car shut off like the rev limiter was hit about 3 seconds after the 200 MPH speed where the guy's jacket flew in front of the camera right after the 200 MPH mark. As I do not know who this is or where it is, these are purely hypothetical guesses that are probably right on the money!

I think the 206 is an incorrect guess as to the top speed attained, not the speed by the standing mile.

Just imagine if that guy goes out again and does the run with the windows closed...... Wouldn't that just be awesome?

I just noticed a couple more things.

1. it only took 3 seconds to go through 4th gear

2. the boost gauge looks to go no higher than 10 or so PSI.
Is this good or bad in your book?

Jason, It is definitely good but can always be better.

3 seconds to go from 112 MPH to 150 is not bad, and to do so at around 10 PSI is even better!

I will forever know you as the guy who threw that line at me on the phone. I never heard such a thing before, and it was poetry in motion -- beautiful. HA! I didn't get to hang or speak with you much in Texas, so will have to do so in Florida.

Not really sure how this turned into a cunt kicking? Maybe I have been misinterpreted by my post. Maybe I misinterpreted the meaning behind this Video.

Sorry I thought somebody was stating that they did 206mph in the standing mile? Now I understand it was a unmeasured test down the road. I thought someone was staking a claim. Not trying to take anything from anybody having fun with what they do, but stating it the way it is in the beggining of the vid can fool people to actually think you did 206mph in the standing mile. Very creative

I apologize and don't want to get kicked for looking at things the way I do, or the way they are presented.

Jr., don't worry Manny and myself have an inside joke about the cunt kicking phrase, no pun intended. It refers to the keyboard racers who break guys balls who DRIVE their cars. ==> You are definitely NOT a keyboard racer therefore do not fit into the cunt kickee mold(no pun intended once again!). You have a lot more skill behind the wheel than just about anybody here on this board. You might not be quite as crazy as that guy in the video but you are most likely a much better driver on the road course than him.

I played the video of your standing mile in Nebraska side by side with this video here and thay are almost EXACTLY identical as far as going through each gear when you run them side by side. Interesting.

I'm also looking forward to it. Great people running that event.

WOW

JR. … I think you have your forums confused or that is one funny looking Viper…. I think you were intending to post that video link on this site: http://www.supraforums.com/forum/
Last time I checked this was a “Viper” forum..
Just trying to help… :help:

My whole intention of joining this forum was to talk about (and watch) Cool Vipers…

This video is a Very cool video. I will admit that the camera operator does not appear to have attended film school (unlike some).

My take on this video is that, a clear video was not the main concern … it was to simply convey the point that this crazy person has a car that goes really fast in relatively short distance... nothing more.. He is not out to say he is better than anyone, or that he has a car that no one else can have. I think it was posted for the sole purpose of saying “this car is fast LOOK!” :thumb: (Besides the fact that it is a cool run) ... I am sure that other people have gone faster in shorter.. But this also appears to be a daily driven car.. And add to the fact that this video appears to be recent.... Anyone know what month it is, and what town that “appears” to be? I think one person mentioned a Chicago area resident?? Come on the guy is wearing a hood.. lol! Judging by the lane changes and his actual driving of the car, this is probably not his first time in the car on that section of road... I doubt that person rolled this car off a trailer on the side of the road to do this run and rolled it right back on when he was done. Everyone also seems to be concerned about the EXACT SPEED… well who knows… yet everyone seems to agree that it is in excess of 200… my whole point of this post is …this guy is a Viper Driver and obviously drives it often.. He also has a VERY fast car that he is not afraid to drive on a daily basis….. I do not see too many other people in the Midwest area with fast Vipers driving them on a daily basis….. /images/graemlins/drive

Well as you can also see I am a very “NEW” member to this board and I think I have stirred up enough controversy for my “FIRST” post. :newbie:
