You know, the ones that showed up on "who's online" to show their country of origin. I always thought that was particularly cool.

With so many users online, the query to get that info was taking up alot of server resources. The page would often take 10-30 seconds just to load because it was looking up IPs in a huge table; turning it off once we got over 50 users online at a time was simply a way to balance resource requirements.

It did slow down the page load. But it was very cool!

I switched it to only show flags for users who were logged in and that worked for a while; but lately we've got 60-90 users logged in and that was making the page really slow. Now only that, the searches also slowed down the server because they were so resource intensive.
