Hi,

I'm sure this has been talked about in this forum before but everything I can find online about hennessey seems to be years out of date.

Within the next few weeks I will be putting in an order for a viper and after reading about the hennessey supercharger package I would really like to do it.

Although I've read some very sketchy things about the shop.

Can anyone give me a recent review of their customer service, build quality, reliability, etc.?

Sorry if this is a repost. Any help is greatly appreciated as I will be new to the Viper world.

D3 Performance makes that kit, go directly to them and have them do it.
This.

Hennessey is always in some kind of turmoil so it's hit or miss if you'll get your car back in running condition (in a timely manner) where you're not having to send it to another shop to fix whatever issues may arise as others had in the past.

Send it to D3 if you want the S/C package and be done with it.

Been telling people for years when they throw the Hennessey name at me. "I wouldn't let Hennessey lube the wheels on a tricycle."

No, smartass, because you still didn't explain. Are you saying D3 are simply expensive, as most top-end shops can be, or that D3 are crooks like Hennessey?
I assume that he means that he claims they are crooks also. It is not rape if you agree to a price for the evening ahead of time, get the promised "product," and end up paying what you agreed on.

Agreed. I've just never heard of D3 being crooks up to this point and I've had interest in their GEN2 work, so I'd like to know if they've fallen to the dark side.

Not trying to be a smart ass so my apologies. Also, not necessarily calling them crooks either. I agree if you agree to something up front and get what you agreed on then its not getting raped. I have just heard of so many people getting pulled in to an already very proud price for something and then getting "talked" into something 2-3 times what was originally intended.

Also, I was told they won't touch a viper build unless you put the PRO EFI standalone system in it which will run you at least $15K by itself and many big names in the game have told me they would never use PRO EFI for anything and some of them have been long time customers of D3 and had them put PRO EFI on their cars and have said never again. Ended up selling their cars because it was never right after that and too many gremlins (which is something I know all to well about with my build).

They are also more focused on the Gen 5 stuff right now so I would trust my gen 2 work to someone else.

FYI they do have a rougher troubled past under a different shop name. If you look for secret services you can read all about customers experiences. I had a close friend get a wire tuck on a fully built S2000 by Secret Services and they screwed his car up and it still isnt right to this day.

For Gen 2 work I would go to Whitehead Motorsports and try to talk Cody into taking the job as I have heard he doesnt really mess with Vipers anymore but his Mechanic Tony Maltez is one of the best and has a Gen 2 twin turbo so he knows them well like the back of his hand.

You know what's funny? I was at his shop two days ago... For all of the "Bad" press he gets on the forums.. his shop is full of cars and has a waiting list of people trying to get their cars tuned by him...

Just seems like the old "Yelp" issue... If you have a bad experience, you take the time to tell everyone you were burned, but you have a good experience, you are too busy enjoying yourself to share...

I think he gets a bad rap for no reason... I have met quite few owners of his vehicles, some with multiple cars from him, and all very happy.

Have him build a car for you and report back...
