My alarm is set on my car, and the battery in my keyfob was dead. I replaced the batteries, but I cannot get the alarm "unset" to allow the car to run (starts, turns off after 2-3 sec). How do I re-sync the fob to the alarm? I know this has been posted before. I did a search, didn't find anything. 94 RT/10, in case the year matters.
Thanks for any help!

No luck with the "hold both buttons".... I'll do a search on VCA board for green wire.
Thanks to all who have responded so far. I seem to have some other strange electrical gremlins also.... Brights won't stay on, fog lights and lighter not working (checked all the connections for fog and lighter).

Damn... Just checked the VCA site, and to reprogram the fob, the alarm has to be disarmed.
I'm not altogether sure this (the key fob) is my problem either. I found my other remote, and it won't work either....

XS....once ya have tried to start the car 2-3 times without disarming the alarm it goes into theft mode...the only way to correct it is to take it to the dealer and have him get into the comp and reset the alarm...then reprogram the key fobs...do you have the old hard plastic fobs or the newer softer fobs that are round shaped kinda????....the old ones were prone to probs....

Len - I have the old ones. Square old ugly ones. I have definitely tried to start it more than 3 times. Probably 30!
Can I disconnect the battery for some period of time? Towing it to a dealership kinda sucks.... especially since it's lowered.
Jeff - Happy Holidays to you and yours! I got this too late to try John. I have him on my list of tuners to cal about a Gen I SC upgrade anyway...
I'm sure you know by now that I talked to Chad and Jason to make sure all was well w/ your interior.

It's a pretty easy task. My GenI had some issues... All they do is take a wire or two under the dash and ground them. Takes about 30 seconds... That was about 3-4 years ago and I forgot the procedure... Sorry.. end of babbling..

Make sure doors and hood are closed. Hold the fob about 6-12" from the receiver and push the lock and unlock buttons at the same time and hold until the horn chirps. This has worked mant times with Gen1 and 2s. Also, even with the battery replaced in the fob, it may be a stale battery. Try another battery just in case.

Hope this helps

xs...ya may have to drop the cover under the column...look for a dark green wire and ground it...it should be near the column....after ya ground it press a button on the remote..if ya have 2 of them ya need to do both..the alarm will acknowledge with a lock or unlock of the doors..ok??...make sure ya have good batteries in the remote..ok......once ya get that done...start the car...it neds 30 starts to totally rest the alrm...so jus drive it and start it as much as possible....ok???..lemme know....Len

Hope you get it running without towing it in. The lighter/lights issue is most likely a fuse, you may have popped it when pulling out your light switch knob or lighter. I blew the fuse to my dash lights and other parts when I pulled my Gen I's light switch out, this was before I knew what I was doing.
Now send me some picks I dying over here!!
Happy Holidays

Still dead. I've tried new batteries in the remote, syncing up the fobs w/ the alarm, and grounding the green wire under the dash that is supposed to reset the alarm (when you ground the wire and turn the key on, the alarm light is supposed to blink, indicating you are in "program mode". My light does not blink - so I assume something is still incorrect). Still only runs for a second or 2.
I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I know I'm on the correct wire, and I know I tied it to a good ground. This is really starting to piss me off.
