After taking out the 4 bolts, how does one go about taking the cap off from there? I was hoping that it would pop off, but it appears I still have to take the cap off from the tube and the plastic surround. Any help would be great!

yep and don't let the tube drop into the tank unless you want to have another day of fun. You should have a hanger wire to catch the tube from falling in but after the screws are removed it should come up and out.
