HoLY THREAD! I never saw this before and damn good write up Dave. You are not nearly as dumb as you look in person ;) After seeing this thread, I will keep my hood gap as this is entirely too much work for me to do. Anything over 2 minutes is mind boggling at my age. Oh yes, plus my hood gap looks good to me and if it is correct or not I am not sure.

Holy crapola! awesome thread!! Perfect timing as my car's front end is apart right now and just figured out I'm missing the front foam piece that sits on the rebar. I know a few places have them for sale but does anybody have an extra one sitting around I could buy from here? dont really care for a new piece.

thanks again for the awesome post, it makes a hell of a lot of sense now after taking my car apart.

I'll be taking plenty when I get home, give me a few hours :)
Please note a few things as you look at your car and decide what is correct and what is not.

The typical order of alignment is the hood to the doors and sills, and then the fascia to the hood. So if you don't like the way the hood fits the fascia, it is typical to align the fascia to the hood, not the hood to the fascia. There are exceptions tho.

Also be aware that things that can move or creep or droop on their own, that the most likely candidate is the fascia. Not the hood. So to correct an "age" problem, I would suspect the fascia. I discovered as I went through my car that the factory assembly methods are really not that great for longevity of correct front fascia placement. Which is why I modified as many of the mounting points and methods that I could. I will be so bold as to say, that is "upgrading."

- Can a moderator make this post a sticky?

This is great information that all GEN 1 & 2 owners should have easy access to.

Thanks.
