End of the month the Viper is out of warranty.

2001 RT/10 15k miles

All recalls done. (mine's an early 2001 so it needed the front frame/steering box recall done)

Is it worth it? I'm mechanically inclined, but would prefer not to work on it if I didn't have to.

Spend the couple of grand for the peace of mind. Many have few to no problems, but if you anything significant, it gets expensive real quick. I probably have had close to $20k in warranty work done on my car (including 2 trannies), and still have 47k miles on my extended warranty - well worth it.

I'd buy the warranty if you plan to keep it stock. The cost of parts are just enormous and for nothing else i think that justifies it by itself.

Does Supercharging void the warranty? Or does it just not cover the motor if you blow it? I read something on some law that you can modify your car and the part will be covered as long as the modification did not directly break that part? Anyone?

of course its worth it. mechanically inclined doesnt matter, you still have to spend time and money on parts which may be covered. get it.

I wouldn't. Not a whole lot to break on these cars. My waterpump went last year which was my main concern. So I got that out of the way. Maybe I would if I had a gen 1 with the head gasket problem. I had a hard time keeping mine stock anyway so I would have blown the waranty anyway.

Funny, good points have been made both ways... And it's not like I just have the cash laying around.

Guess I'll just take parts off of Smokins car when I need to fix mine. /images/graemlins/supergrin.gif
