Ever have mixed feelings over your knob?

Don't know which one I like better. I put the MGW on a few weeks ago and it certainly has a performance advantage, but I still think the cognac color looks better. Talked to a couple of people about changing the skins, but they thought it would probably never look or feel right. What do yall think? /images/graemlins/gr_driving3.gif

Dawg:

I've got that same combo. The knob looks much better when you change over all the rest of the dash "knobs" to the MGW replacements. Do the ashtray too.

BTW-I've said this before....I don't know how anyone can still drive with the stock shifter...after you use the short shift knob the stock one feels like its better designed for a tractor!
MGW all the way
City, I agree. The old shifter felt 10 feet tall once I switched.

Anthony, is there a "new" knob MGW just released?
i hate my MGW short throw! it isnt the quality, just is too short i think. i think if you like how the short throw shifts, stick with it b/c it looks just fine

Did you install this? Because the height is adjustable...you can even leave the factory nut on it, for added height if it is too low for you...Just adjust it up some...It's easy...

I think JDAWG's new knob is actually still bout a 1/2" too high...for me it would be...

Find an upholsterer to DYE your knob to match that shit brown interior...I mean Connelly interior...(Oops...Did I say "shit brown" out loud?) ...OR...You could always take your stock knob to a machine shop, and have them turn it down to the desired height....So it would match your skidmark interior (Oops...did it again...It's my fever, I swear!)
MGW all the way. The first mod I did was ace the stock shifter. I hated the way it looked and felt.
I have a lot of MGW products in my Viper too, and am getting a few more goodies for my birthday in a few weeks. I nominate George from MGW for President!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /images/graemlins/wave.gif His stuff kicks asp.

I'm probably the only one I know who had to have the factory shifter. As far as looks & feel.
MGW, remove the nuts underneath it and screw it down further, I have mine so low. Ill try to get a pic. My factory one is the old 5incher, its like a dildo.

I did not realize it would go even lower. I have to compromise with my gf since she likes a longer stick. :lolcry:

Okay here is a pic......
What year is your car. Never seen the steering wheel and seat color different, but then again I don't get a chance to see many Vipers.
Its a 95. I think its the only year that they put the tan in the yellow car. I purposely bought the tan so I could have the black dash with the intention to change the carpets and seats to black.

I think all the grey interiors have black steering wheels and the 96 cars have colored steering wheels.

Now that I think of it 97 would be the first year that the wheels match the interior.
I have the B&M with the MGW in satin on my Connelly interior. I like hte MGW better. Have the satin knobs too.

Now you know someone else.
Looks much better with the MGW knob. I have the same MGW knob on my Viper.

When you shift I bet your hand covers the knob so it doesn't matter what color it is.

You said the MGW "certainly has a performance advantage", and that means you've answered your own question on which knob to keep.

JDawg - Ever think about using the stock shifter and just shortening it? Just a thought if you like the look and feel of the stock shifter. Many have done this and it works great (if you want the stock look, but a aftermarket throw).
