I realize this topic has been beaten to death, but what type of spring compressor is required for the eibach pro kit installation? No one around here seems to have one.....

Any CarX or chain auto repair spot will a spring compressor mounted on a wall, with a safety cage...Just peel the springs/shocks yourself and run them up there...

Adjust your shocks at the same time...

any spring compressor will work. Just remove spring/shock combo connect spring compressor tighten enough to remove end cap. reverse and repeat 4 times. The whole thing takes about an hour and a half. Hope that helps!

I just had the Eibach Pro-Kit springs installed this weekend. Dave Weaver (board member and Viper tech) did the job while I watched. Compressing those springs is no joke. If one of those things gets loose it could take your face off. You really need to adjust your stock Konis to stiffer dampening settings when you go to a stiffer spring otherwise you'll be pogoing around out there.

Dave measure before and after ride heights pretty accurately and it lowered the front 1/2" and the rear 3/4". Not very much and I was happy with that. I hate the impracticality of a lowered car and I just went to the Eibachs for track suspension tuning, not looks.

And don't be like all the other posers out there who lower their car for looks and then can't be bothered to re-align it. If you dork with lowering it, you've gotta re-align. I had that done as well.

The whole combo of stiffer front sway bar, Eibach Pro-Kit springs, stiffened dampening on the Konis and a good track alignment and my car feels AWESOME! I can't wait to hit the track weekend after next!

SeriousEric, thanks for the input..fortunately, I've already accounted for realignment, etc. In reasons addition to yours, you'll wear tires out like mad. Have fun at the track.

I had my damping adjusted when I did my eibachs as well as had the car aligned, but it bounces around EVERYWHERE! I HATE my eibachs.
Well stiffer springs and a car tuned for track handling ain't no Benz. What did you expect?

I want to do some work on my GTS this winter but I am afraid doing stuff like the eibach and changing the shock settings will actually make the car even more dangerous in the street under "high performance" conditions.

example...

last weekend I was blowing the doors off a vintage race prepped 911 on a long highway interchange and in the turn I was going about 110 to 120 and the car stuck like glue...until it hit bumps...I did feel the back of the car every so slightly "move" when I hit those bumps....now...if I had stiffer "poser" lowering springs and stiff shock settings...I know the "movement" would have been greater and maybe....just maybe...caused the cars balance to "upset" and possibly loose control. Also another factor is bump steer increases when you lower the car which in turn would worsen the above example even more.

I am going to do a lot of research before touching my set up from stock to modified for street use.

Now if I tracked the car only...totally different situation and conditions.

My question is... .97g's in the turns not enough for you for street use or is this just for "looks" (and thus maybe a not so safe car under certain conditions)

In your case Eric..you may have a better car for the track but a more risky set up for the street.

I dont mind a stiffer ride. I just dont want a pogoing bouncy ride. I hate thse things so much im about to just open up the wallet and spring (no pun intended) for Penskes or Motons.

I went with Snake Bitten's specs on the shocks (full dampening front and 1/3 in the rear) and my car doesn't pogo around, it's just a nice stiff ride. What you describe sounds weird. Do you trust the tech who did the work?
